Ladies and gentleman, I give you George Best. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/nplemK3Y4ns&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/nplemK3Y4ns&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Even late in his career in the USA.....wonderful goal.... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/U2HWUbFGHMU&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/U2HWUbFGHMU&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> DD
George Best wasn't bad, but he's nowhere near the greatest of all time. I would go with Pele, Maradona (probably best player of the 1980s), Puskas, and Cryuff. We've seen some great players in their prime in our day as well: Romario, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Zidane, and Weah just to name a few.
George Best never played in a world cup. Can't be the best unless you've played on the biggest stage.
there are some player during his times who was better.....Eusebio, Johan Cruyff, Beckenbauer in the IFFHS list he's only 16th...behind Pele, Cruijff, Beckenbauer, Di Stefano, Maradona, Puskas, Platini, Garrincha, Eusebio, Marco Van Basten, Muller and Zico... of course Zidane should be placed ahead of him too he's probably comparable to today's Cristiano Ronaldo, a lot of flash....
Are you kidding me? Landon Donovan doesn't belong in the same paragraph with George Best. But the greatest of all time is CANTONA <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/43Wh-y8HX8Q&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/43Wh-y8HX8Q&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Pele even said George Best was the best......but what does he know? I was hoping others would post some clips of their favorites.... Also, pay particular attention to the LACK of flopping.... DD

Not a great goalscorer though.
Man, the most amazing thing about that video was how he managed to stay on his feet despite all the obvious penalties. Players nowadays would have gone down in a show of pain.
Garrincha makes George Best look like a choir boy.....on the pitch as well. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/r_V6y5P050M&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/r_V6y5P050M&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I love watching old soccer clips it is like watching Pistol Pete Maravich.....these guys were so far ahead of their time and doing things that were unheard of with the ball..... Just wonderful to see. DD
Best ever: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/64VK0yNAo8E&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/64VK0yNAo8E&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
