    sorry if its been posted

The Rockets are unlikely to take on any new long term financial obligations this offseason and that is by design.

Tracy McGrady is under contract for two more seasons and by the end of the 2010 season, the only definite salary obligation on the books will be the $7.3 million coming to Shane Battier.

Yao has a player's option to play out the 2010-2011 season for just under $17 million, which means the Rockets will have salary-cap room to go in just about any direction they choose.

This could make the Rockets major players in the famous 2010 free agent class.

First of all I think you should change the title and link to the Houston Chronicle, since that is where Realgm got this article from.

Anyhow this article pretty much sums up what my feeling is for our off season moves until 2010. Unless a potential move that will make us a title team for sure become available, I am content with just letting the expiring contracts expire without a significant move. It would be a lot safer to simply use the cap relief to let us make additions through free agency, rather then making huge moves that could not only tie us up financially in the future and would not necessarily push us to become a bonifide title contender.

Adding with the fact that currently almost every team around the league have expiring contracts the same and even larger then the ones we have. Decreasing the value we could receive for the expirings.

I don't get it. We will resign Yao and won't be able to lure anyone in better than McGrady. Just re-up the duo. Well, re-up McGrady for a lesser rate when he expires.

I sure hope you are wrong. Especially if we're talking about a 30+ year-old McGrady.

Also, seeing how salaries go up every year, if Yao has two healthy and productive years, I can see him opting out and asking for the max, which by then will be much higher than it is now.

T-Mac may be going. In his place maybe anyone's guess. Either that or we are bringing in a third superstar like Vince Carter and make T-Mac take a pay cut.

We're just missing Hoopsworld now and any other blog willing to regurgitate the Chronicle article to make it it's own.
