...I'm loving how Batman characterizes the old Webb thread as one in which he won. He exited stage left after a spirited curse-fest after being called out on several of his long-standing whiffs and misrepresentations. He went down in flames calling people a-holes, idiots, and making reference to 'little boys' peckers' (his own words).... Yeah...um that's 'winning a thread' alright! Kinda like Kerry winning the biggest mandate since Reagan in 2004... OOPS. Batman has been discredited so many times on this BBS, I simply cannot count. Now that the Plame flame-out of a story took away the juicy prospect of Rove/Cheney in jail, I guess he no longer has a go-to mental image to get excited about... But friends, sorry to digress... back to the topic of the thread... We've seen some of the libs defend descriptions of pedophilia, but how about defending other Webb quotes in his books such as using the words "monkey face" to refer to Vietnamese women and repeatedly dropping n-bombs? That's just impossible to defend, friendo... but to quote the legend himself,
Also, I didn't say the quotes were inaccurate. It's George's implications about the quotes that are inaccurate (that Webb's a pedophile, that witnessing a scene and writing about it equals a fantasy). But he knows that and just keeps repeating it. That's how he rolls. Until he's finally so embarrassed he runs away. Like the first time we talked about this. I also didn't say the quotes wouldn't hurt Obama. In fact, I said the opposite was probably true. I was the one to raise this issue in this thread as a problem, remember?
George, you poor little liar... We have a search function on this BBS and there is a record. When you post something and then I post and then you disappear, I'm not the one to "exit stage left." You are. I also didn't say Kerry would win a mandate. I said that if the exit polls were true that would constitute a mandate. That's a fact. There is a record on this as well. You are a liar. You lie here all the time and you're doing it again. Conversely, you cannot cite a single example of me lying on this site. Go poof, baby.
Yawn, more sexy lies from Batman... getting kind of old, friend. So Batman, kiddie-p*rn and racism aside, do you care to defend Webb dropping of the n-bomb? That would round out the ticket well -- with Obama's spiritual advisor and veep being comfortable with dropping the heinous word regularly...
Yes, Troll. I'll play one more time. If using the n-word in a piece of fiction is racist then Mark Twain is a racist, Alex Haley is a racist and any other writer who ever wrote honestly about race is a racist. But they aren't. It's especially hilarious to hear charges of racism from the chief racist on the board. Keep on trollin', Traitor.
Batman, you can't compare the works of Twain from the 1800's to those of the modern-era Webb texts. Clearly the word has increased in its severity and implications since Twain's time. Pathetic attempt at excusing outright racist filth. It's really amazing what the libs are willing to overlook in order to show unwavering support for their lefty candidates... pedophilic texts, monkey-face references, n-bombs... the list goes on and on... Did rage replace logic on the left?
George, I am about to go out for the night, but I will grace your silly trolling with one more response. As I said, any writer of fiction who wishes to deal with race honestly will use racist terminology. You look like an idiot when you call the writers racist for doing so. The pedophile thing has been repeatedly refuted regardless of your fantasies to the contrary. If any of the grown-ups want to talk about the VP race I'll be home later. Bye, George!
"A shirtless man walked toward them along a mud pathway. His muscles were young and hard, but his face was devastated with wrinkles. His eyes were so red that they appeared to be burned by fire. A naked boy ran happily toward him from a little plot of dirt. The man grabbed his young son in his arms, turned him upside down, and put the boy's penis in his mouth." ______ The Dems have seized an advantage over the last few years by staying away from this kind of bizarre sexual issue -- if accurate this quote will be a major problem leading into the election.
HO HO HO I accept your unconditional surrender and I eagerly await the sexy, spirits-induced revelry to come from you later this evening! EXIT STAGE LEFT
From the comments on the polling website in the other thread, it sounds like you need to add Governor Brian Schweitzer of Montana to you poll options.
That quote was around before he beat Allen...if put in context I can't imagine it hurts him too much. But I guess you never know.
Let's translate... Webb is one of a rare breed who has the courage to serve his country with high distinction in the most unpopular war in American history and also has the intelligence and gifts to write novels that are highly acclaimed by servicemen who are his biggest foes politically. Oh, and by radical on economic matters it means he understands how corporations and the rich work to perpetuate the cycles that are destroying the middle class in America. “James Webb’s new novel paints a portrait of a modern Vietnam charged with hopes for the future but haunted by the ghosts of its war-torn past. It captures well the lingering scars of the war, and exposes the tension between the dynamism of a new generation and the invisible bondage of an older generation for whom wartime allegiances, and animosities, are rendered no less vivid by the passage of time. A novel of revenge and redemption that tells us much about both where Vietnam is headed and where it has been.” — Senator John McCain “With The Emperor’s General, Jim Webb cements his reputation as an extraordinarily gifted storyteller. He excels in mining the rich veins of history to invest his fiction with the drama of great events.... An engrossing, moving, and splendid book.” — Senator John McCain
I don't think it's cool either. And I also think it's weird that we have so many people ruling themselves out. I can understand Mark Warner doing it as he's engaged in a campaign and, though he'll win it easily, the argument could be made that if he wants to be a senator he needs to promise to serve the term. But Strickland and Webb doing this doesn't make sense to me. And it looks bad.
There is a lot less sublimation of the ego in being a tenured senator than being the VP nominee. These people don't get where they are by wanting to be good support staff.
Sure but there's less sublimation of ego in being president than senator too. And whoever Barack taps will be the overnight frontrunner for the 2016 nomination.
It may be an indication that Obama's made his decision. Rather than people be disappointed that their-favorite-choice wasn't picked, if those choices eliminate themselves, it makes it easier to get buy-in at the end of the day. You figure Obama's going to announce his decision later this month, so it may be very possible that he's already got 1 or 2 people that he's narrowed it down to.
Just like John Edwards? bwa ha ha ha ha Seriously, just how many times can you be wrong? Just horrible political instincts on display, folks...
