I think Batman is a more consistent defensive player as well as shooter.
That's from watching Posey when he was here. Posey is better in the open court but that rarely happens in Houston.

Batman defended the best players of most teams....Posey can't crack the starting lineup on most teams...I WILL PASS on Posy over Battier.

People often forget Battier is also a 2 guard. He would provide plenty of rest for T-Mac in the season and in close games. Maybe Adelman will move T-Mac to point for a few minutes and have both Battier and Posey on the wings?

Oh man I so agree. I get tired of people talking about player with intangibles all the time. Give me a player with something tangibles every time. Something like a great jumpshot or an unstoppable first step.

I thought hoopshype was the bad one. hoopsworld i never heard of that one. I mean its on yahoo too but not realgm. The Kobe trade last season was also on yahoo before it hit the mega media spotlight.

He is good, but not worth full MLE.

I believe Posey can be a big addition to this team if Morey can sign him. He is a good defender, decent shooter, and good penetrator... This team needs someone that can take advantage of having two stars... We have not really seen that in previous years...

more good players > less good players.

if he can be had at a reasonable cost, id love to have him on the team.

we should only be so lucky.

but it's hoopsworld, so that means that the opposite will happen.

James Posey is our misssing piece? Actually we need a wing who is a scorer like Margette or a defender like Posey, but by all means posey is no better than battier ,the only way if i trade battier is a superstar at least better than Margette
Around the league ,however ,there few superstar that we can take to houston ,they are either unaffordable or untradable, for example paul and marbury, but we can still find some superstars that fit our request .our own big three is nothing impossible.
Oh ,We can't bring ray allen here, but we can call mac's brother to houston,we can't find another roster as great as VC yet requier just 13m per year,Yao is exception because he just earn 2m actually.
And it's a feasible deal as the nets is on reconstruction.i guess is willing to play with his brother ,and we have the rosters they want.We may trade battier & bobey jackson & luther nohead as a package to new jersey for VC himself, VC is liable to get down yet i still believe his injuries were more related to the poor team situation ,considering Ray's injuries in seattle.I guess Carter is as healthy as he was when begining his career. What 's more ,cater is a good shooter that we need, we just need a shooter, now that VC is much better than Mo,yet much more expensive than Mo.Then our team will be another great team based on big three, but our bench rosters are better.
    Franchise, Rafer,Brooks
    VC,(T-MAC ,Francis)
    T-MAC ,Greene ,Novak
    Scola ,Landry( if possible) ,Hayes,
    Yao ,Dorsey ,Deke,
    Coach :Adelman ,Agentzero.
Is that a fantastic team? If you can think of another guy for whom we should trade Battier, then name one.Neither Margette nor artest can be considered as a superstar like VC.VC is really our missing piece.

James Posey could be the missing piece. You see if we acquire him through free agency, we could then use our trade pieces to acquire a point guard such as Kirk Hinrich or possibly Ben Gordon.

No substance to the sources whatsoever. If I were Morey, I wouldn't offer Posey a long term deal with the landry issue unresolved. Saying anything lik that basically encourages other teams to bid for landry.

Socond, unless I know I know I have a good chance that some teams who are willing to give up a wing scorer demands battier as part of the package, I wouldn't sign an old posey long term. This would limit our roster flexibility for a guy with the skillset we truely need in the future.

man, I saw this too, just its HOOPSWORLD...even more...Its BILL INGRAM! Bill is the master of all logic!(or illogic)

he's like: rockets need to trade for more pieces to compliment Yao and McGrady, and one way to do that is to do one of these trades: "Trade McGrady for Billups and Wallace"...yeah right Bill we're trading away Tracy so we can compliment Tracy?!!!!! lol haha

    http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/53388/20080704/doc_rivers_calls_maggette_about_contract/

Celtics Coach Doc Rivers spoke with free agent Corey Maggette on the phone Thursday, and he is reportedly considering joining the NBA champions, according to The Boston Globe.

A league source claims that the Celtics have offered Maggette the full midlevel exception, expected to be worth $5.8 million.

"I don't want to hold the Celtics up or [general manager] Danny Ainge," said Maggette. "I talked to Doc . . . I'm not going to hold them up. I know they are still looking at James Posey. But I'm still weighing my options."

The Celtics are pursuing both Maggette and Posey, but it's unlikely they'll be able to sign both.

Posey is a nice player but I don't see him as a Rocket again as he wants the MLE. I believe it is more important for the Rockets to secure Landry than get a player like Posey when we have Battier. If this was Maggette, then I would pass on Landry for him.

    The way i see it.

So far San Antonio and Boston looks to be front runners in Maggette sweep stakes.

Houston is making a move based all on what Maggette chooses.

They dont want to see Posey on either team.

The question in the Posey situation really layes in the Rockets favor if it's about money.

Boston dont want to offer him the full MLE regardless if they sign Maggette or not.

If Maggette chooses Boston this means they will lose Posey to Houston.

I think the Rockets feel they can get past the Spurs and would have to sign Posey based on the match up scenario.

If San Antonio lands Maggette, then this makes sence as to why the story has leaked.

Rockets want Posey based by the match up scenario.

    Now a question?

If Boston dont sign either because

    A) Maggette chooses San Antonio
    B) Houston offers full MLE to Posey
    C) San Antonio lands Maggette
    D) Boston dont want to give full MLE to Posey

It sounds like a cat and mouse game to me anyways.

Just saying if Posey signs here using the entire MLE, what can we do about Landry if the league rules say no team can offer more than the MLE because that is all what Houston can pay themselves to match the offer? If the MLE is used does this mean we cant match Landry even though we hold that right to match?

I'm loving the stream of logic from the numerous responses clamoring that we don't need Posey because we already have Battier. This isn't a difficult concept to grasp - signing Posey opens up the door to trade Battier.
