He was never given a chance under Nellie's reign but I remember that alot of teams were high on him because of his performance in the NCAA tourney.

I remember reading somewhere by Hollinger that stats-wise, he was overrated

You could sign him to whatever is left of the MLE and make him a project; if we want some younger talent for the future. He probably is getting overlooked by a lot of teams because it seemed Nellie didn't want to develop the young talent in Golden State; (Bellineli;Wright;etc. etc.)

After watching the video I believe the sun can shine on a dog butt at anytime. We can put together about 10 minutes of Chuck Hayes offense outburst or defensive plays (or Luther Head for that matter), but we all know the deal. Believe me when I say that as bad as the Warriors needed an inside presence that if he had any game he would have been on the court.

I think we should sign him for vet min? is that possible? backup to Yao would be great if we could get him to do it for cheap.

    Bingo!

I like him a lot. He has potential to be quite good at both ends of the floor. Very big and long. Good blocker. Soft hands and has a good sky hook and jumper up to 15 feet.

Just needs to be more aggressive. Still very young.

    Sign him!

the rox better move on him, the celtics already worked him out. Darius Miles is also available for those that started those Darius Miles trade threads.

Barry needs to decide quickly to give Morey a chance to trade excess guaranteed contracts. The longer it takes the Rockets to sign a backup swingman the less likely they'll get a trade done to free up the roster.

darius miles is done like bob sura. He hasnt played in 2 years. What a shame too because he was just starting to show signs of being a star before he got hurt.

I'd love to take a flyer on O'Bryant. I loved his game at Bradley. He had a 7/10 speed Dream shake that was a thing of beauty. Nellie has no clue how to coach a big man, so his time in Oakland doesn't mean much. He wasn't great in the NBDL, so it's a big risk, but it's a risk that I'd take.

Of course ,there is nothing better than a bargin
getting a roster at a relative low price is always a cheerful thing , just like signing Bonzi with 5m two years .If we can sign a roster at the bottom salary, it doesn't matter whether he is capable,we should grab the geal ,at least he may act as a bench warmer.

This would be cutting Woods to get Loren Woods Jr.

But Desagana Diop has set the bar pretty low for a big man now, so maybe he is worth a look.

guys, I know summer is boring and we have yet to hit a single free agent target, but taking about patrick o'bryant as if he's gonna make any impact is just pathetic... :p

I dunno, its hard to really take a guy based on the rational that "there's no way he should suck this badly." I think if he could hack it defensively he would have seen the floor, but I guess you never know.

It's another low risk, high reward situation. If we signed him for the minimum + $100,000 and stashed him in the NDBL with CD or Hakeem teaching him big man moves, we could see how he develops. His biggest problem may have been that he came out too early.

If he shows promise, we keep him and, if not, we drop him like a hot rock. The worst case scenario is that we use the 15th roster spot (which can't suit out anyway) for a while and kiss away a few hundred thousand dollars (popcorn change in the NBA). The best case scenariio is we get a top 15 draft pick for almost nothing.

He could learn a lot playing against Yao in practice....if he wants a low end contract....dump Loren Woods and sign him.

I would certainly sign him for the minimum and see if he could be developed learning from our coaching staff, Yao, and Mutombo. If everything works out then great, and if it doesn't, then cut ties with him.

O'Bryant was never a good fit in GS. He's a halfcourt player so obviously he would fit well in our inside-outside offense. If he could be had for cheap I would kill to have him.
