What an absolute let down. I will never watch this crap again. 1) The analyst was an absolute douche who over used analogies and had no knowledge of competitive eating. Before the start of OT, the analyst asked him how the pause would affect Kobayashi and Chestnut. His answer, "I don't know. My wife says slowing down makes you feel full." The roving reporter sounded like he was having an orgasm watching the guys eat. 2) Time limit change from 12 minutes to 10 minutes. I was hoping to see someone break 70. But now I don't know. 3) The OT rule (first to down 5 hot dogs) is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. The guys were dog for dog. Give them 5 more minutes or something. The end was weak.
Yes you will. We all will. Yeah, i didn't like the overtime rule. First to down five hotdogs? How about another three or four minutes.
Last year I actually stayed in my hotel room during my vacation to watch this... I also stayed for the NBA draft, but that was a given.
You take competative eating way too seriously. It's just people craming food down their face for our amusement, it's supposed to be light-hearted fun.
Dumbest post I've ever seen on clutchfans. You epitomize all that is wrong with hot dog eating haters. That was epic, simply memorable. I will be telling by kids about that one.
I'm a Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest purist. They have changed the rules over the years that do not stick with the tradition set forth when the competition started in 1916. First of all contestants were not not allowed to drink water when the competition was founded. Now all the contestants are splishing and splashing all the way through the contest. Violation! Also what is troublesome is the nationalism and xenophobia contest organizers have over foreign participants. This year they contest was changed from 12 minutes to 10 minutes, thus assuring American, Joey Chestnut's record breaking haul of 66 hot dogs, will never be broken. It is not possible to eat 66 hot dogs in 10 minutes. 59 maybe, but not 66. Kobayahsi cries! This is very troublesome and disheartening to observe as the Hot Dog Eating Contest once represented the openness of this great country. Sadly no more.
but but but, what about the people in Africa. theyre starving, while we have this 100 lb japanese guy eat 1000 hotdogs in a second. The person that impresses me the most is that Sonya chick. She is 5 5 or something and 100 lbs, but she can eat.
Exactly. I am thinking the OP has never watched the shows this group used to put on MojoHD. Everything is tongu-in-cheek and alot more corny than the ESPN coverage. It is a fun event, they put on a great show. These guys were here just a few months ago at the Greek Festival.
That was last year. Allegedly, he couldn't even open his mouth 24 hours before the contest, then he ate like 64 hot dogs, set a world record, but still got 2nd place.
