I thought it was funny that nobody has quoted this so far: "The hope is that he'll be able to come in and earn the minutes,'' Nelson said. "Who knows, maybe the light goes on.'' http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/25516903/ Not exactly a ringing endorsement...and seems to refer to the guy not being very bright nor having the right attitude.
I really can't see how he can get the start before Stackhouse and Terry. Honestly getting cut by Houston might have been the best thing for him, maybe now he has matured knowing that you can't just have potential and expect to have any longevity in this league.... Unless DD is the GM, then we can see the unstoppable combination of Green/Vspan. http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/celtics/articles/2008/03/16/green_talent_hasnt_matured/ http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Gerald-Green-gets-another-chance?urn=nba,91583 But in all seriousness, this will probably be his best chance to mature and succeed in this league with playing on a team with experienced veterans like Stackhouse and Kidd to mentor him. Seems like teams where only willing to offer him was a 1 year deal, most likely for the minimum and maybe not even guaranteed, hopefully that'll be a wake up call. The decision to goto Dallas might come back to hunt him tho, since this will probably be the only chance he have left to redeem him self it might be a mistake to go to a team that is very set on its SG. After the whole Josh Howard thing last season you have to think Cuban will cut him at the slightest sign of trouble.
^^^ Just to clear it up I meant Dallas might be the best chance for him to mature and learn to be professional. But might be a mistake in terms of the playing time and the team's willingness to put up with any nonsense.
I don't even need to read this thread..... If you can't make it in Minnesota, you can't make it anywhere. Sure, people WANT to like him because he's a hometown kid and a great dunker.. but he won't be anything in this league anytime soon
