That must have been quite a shock. 60 minutes is pretty dang good for endurance though. I'm guessing it was low intensity? Really the only cardio I do is jogging, bball, and stationary bike(at pretty low intensity) when my knees don't feel too good. I would like to jump rope but I never really get into it all that much.

As far as your question, iirc, the best thing to do before weights is some stretching and light cardio(10-15 min) but nothing that will weaken you at all for the exercises. You want to be able to put forth your full effort for the weights so you can get stronger and work the muscles.

I ate this a few times last month...remember this is one meal.

    and

    http://jasonsdeli.com/nutrition/SoupsandSalads/138

look at the Nutrition Facts

Here I was thinking it's vegitarian soup. IT MUST BE HEALTHY! "Friggin Death in a Bowl." As for the meatball sub? I never thought in a million years it would be that bad.

That's about 3 days worth the sodium in one meal...look at the cal. and the fat tooooo! I'm ranting but, I'm mad at myself for doing that to myself. Working out and stressing over BP...I just found my problem :D

To all that are on the "health-kick" bandwagon with me remember...it's not a diet..............it's a LIFESTYLE change.

I've always read that it's best to do weights before cardio, but I've never been able to stick to that very well. I'm like you, I like using cardio to get a sweat going and then hit the weights after wards.

    Yea it was
I do cardio machine to save my knees
I had gotten up to running 3 miles last year [it took me about 50 minutes]
but then my knees started to hurting . . . and i 'got off the wagon'
so I started trying to Cardio Machine

Knees better. . . I been pushing the settings to 15/10 [1/1 being too too easy]
I thought I was working harder .. but i guess not

That's nothing compared to the Plain Jane baked potato. 2200+ calories and 170+ grams of fat. I currently work at Jason's and have people order it all the time. I just can't believe a potato can be that bad for you.

Only thing there I get: french onion soup, no cheese, and turkey slimwich. Those are reasonable.

really. man, i grew up in the cornfields of illinois. no way they miss an inch when you are trying out for the bball team. are you serious. you missed an inch this whole time. i could have told you you were 6'1 when I first met you.

i mean i was cut during an extra "4th cut" from my team in 8th grade on height alone (slash, potential). Then I grew 8 inches that year. idiots.

Finalsbound, first congrats! Second, damn that tomato basil soup is good. To bad I have to avoid it...for the next year or so. By the way, which Jason's? My wife and I go to the one on Bay Area.

Mason Road in Katy. I'm always nervous that SwoLy-D will come in. I'll know it when a Mexican starts correcting my grammar and displaying several emotions all at once.

Have you tried the Tomato Basil at La Madeline? I love that stuff, but it's only good for a couple bites. I feel the same way about Jason's. It's good for a bit, then the creaminess just overpowers you.

I would like to suggest these, for those who can't stand to drink plain water and don't want to pay out the whazoo for fitness water or whatever. Sorry about the second picture being blurry.

As you can see, there is basically nothing in these things. Those particular flavors do have 10mg sodium per serving, but that's nothing compared to a soda. There are no calories and no sugar. Some flavors have no sodium at all, by the way.

I usually mix one tub (makes 64 oz.) into a jug before bed, stick it in the fridge, and then take it to work the next day. I tend to finish it before I come back home, and I actually enjoy doing so (unlike water).

There are 6 tubs in each container (so, 6 days worth) and I believe they are only $1.88 at Wal-Mart. That's the price of ONE large soda at your favorite fast food place.

for some reason i can't get myself to buy the propel fitness water powder and mix it, and i just pay for the real stuff. i think it tastes the same but something is just "off" about it to me. or maybe i'm just lazy. so i end up spending way more.

CCR, I like those, they have a cherry limeade flavor that's good.

This stuff is AMAZING though. I first bought it at HEB:

No sugar, no calories, no carbs, no sodium......and delicious.

Well, I didn't really start playing ball til I was almost out of high school, so no way they would catch that. I so wish I had found out about ball before, but eh.

Yeah, knee pain sucks ass. Luckily for me I can play and jog most of the time, but squating motions are painful for me. If your knees are that bad, then just do what you can and be proud of it, seriously.

If my knees ever give out, I'll take up bike riding and swimming. Til then I'll do what I like more.

They have some stuff like that at HEB for around the same price. The HEB generic brand and Wyler's I think it's called. I really dig the peach tea.

Are these made from Splenda or Aspartame by any chance? I couldn't see the label properly.

I still don't understand the anti-sodium kick. Whats the problem with sodium again? Is it blood pressure related or something? My body usually craves sodium after I work up a big sweat. I can genuinely sense my body crying out for a pickle or something.

I was once told by a trainer to just do what you like the least first so that you do not cheat and put less effort on the exercise. Personally I HATE cardio so I that first so I don't complain about being tired from lifting and just go home.

I also read that doing cardio before lifting raises the heart rate which leads to a more efficient workout.

Any activity is better than no activity.

I am trying to lose a bit of weight myself. On the treadmill there is a "weight loss" option but the intensity is always so much lower than other exercises. Is this to keep the heart rate within range? Is this the best one to be doing on such machines?
