I never said Dice couldn't get it done nor did I imply that he could not get it done. Obviously I believe he can get it done and that he has value or I would not have suggested trading him for a high lottery pick. I guess you think people with no value are worth high lottery picks.

I suggested trading Dice because Denver has little or no shot at being a contender for the next couple of years so why not give Dice a chance at a fresh start while he still has several years left in his prime and give the Nuggets a chance to get another high lottery pick that might be still be in there prime when they are a contender again.

Sorry if you are not capable of comprehending that.

 

dumping wahad, johnson and van exels contracts. thats about 20 mill right there alone! plus whatever raef is gonna make.

i understand having cap room is not a guarantee, however considering that we had no cap room before, couldnt make any moves, had no cap room in the future, and were close to the lux tax WHILE not winning is pointless. we will easily be where we are at now, in 2 years without trying. plus we will have cap room and a future. its a huge difference.

dude we tried to deal with indiana, and (at last count) 16 other teams. nve was screwing us. no one wanted him with that contract. even with raef it was hard. we would have to take back similar terrible contracts so how doees that help us? it doesnt. so we had two choices (1) stay with what we have and suck forever or (2) trade all the bad contracts and start over with cap space. we chose 2.

i was DYING for a nve-rose trade but it was in fact, impossible.

The fact is I never really intended to say anything to make you get ill anytime you read one of my posts but it has become quite funny that you seem to hate me so much that you feel the need to express it whenever you address me. It must be a heavy burden bare. The fact is I like many of your posts and agree with quite a bit with what you say but I am not at all certain where your animosity for me comes from. No need for explanations since it’s not important.

This trade cost you guys way more than the contracts. The only positive thing that came out of this trade was getting rid of Wahad. NVE would have became a free agent the same year as Howard because it was a players option. Avery Johnson was a solid backup and well Raef was Raef. You guys got screwed no matter what you read. Like I said earlier the Nugs organization is known for being a bunch of idiots, so what makes you think free agents are going to want to sign there other than because of money? I hate to be a party pooper but some players in this league are actually freinds...no, really. These players actually talk to each and tell of their experiences with other teams. You think Mutumbo, NVE, Raef, Ron Mercer, Rodney Rogers, or Kevin Willis will have anything nice to say about Denver other than "Estes park was cool and Pikes peak is a long climb " Why do you think everyone avoided Chicago? They offered more money than a lot of other teams, but once an organization gets a black eye it takes a long time before they become attractive again.

Just face it you guys got screwed. Its ok every team has gotten screwed before. We traded Moses Malone in his prime.

what it cost us was (a) raef and (b) 1.5 seasons of pure suckiness. what it gave us was (a) a ton of cap room (b) a brighter future (c) NO NICK VAN EXEL and (d) a first rounder.

AJ was a solid backup but if were gonna dump salary then he becomes useless and had to go.

yeah, im sure people talk and im sure mercer and van exel had some crappy words to say (rogers, mutombo, raef?...nah) but are you gonna turn down a max contract cuz your buddy said so? if you can come here and win (which we potentially could if these guys said yes) and play in a top organization with top facilities and make 10 mill, would you say no? some would, but some wont. those are who we target.

You know, you can say the trade sucked. It's tough to argue that (I'm still torn). However, anyone who says that "Well, Nick Van Exel was a free agent the same year as Howard, so it was pointless" is stupid. I'm sorry, but it's true.

Nick was RUINING the team for everyone else. He came in, he b****ed. He was going to have "surgery" if he didn't get traded. You really think he was hurt those last 10 or so games before he was dealt and then miraculously healed when he was traded? Bull. Nick was a cancer, the worst kind.

Would you guys have kept Pippen for another 1.5 years because "he would have been a free agent then anyway"? Hell no. Don't give me this garbage about how we were stupid to dump Nick.

 

yup - he actually said he have season ending elbow surgery if there was no trade. how does that elbow look in dallas right now? oh pretty darn good id say.

if we dont dump him, we have a cancer making 12 mill on our bench, who we cant even GIVE AWAY. so we are screwed with chemistry, takes up a roster spot and no cap space forever. we couldnt win with him on the court or on the bench obviously. so if the only way to give nve away was to give raef, wouldnt it be smart to dump taw and aj too? i think so.

fortunately we found a team who would take on over 100 mill in contracts and somehow give us 20 mill in cap space in only one seasons wait. not bad.
