That song is actually a Wham! song called "Careless Whisper". And Deji, what are you trying to say about me and genres of music?
I've always thought someone could do a great cover of "Carry On My Wayward Son". Just checked on Youtube, here's a cover I didn't know about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgqry2BoK08
Billy Joel once said that "Only the Good Die Young" was originally meant to be a reggae song. I'd love to here a reggae artist cover it.
there's a punk version of that song that i used to listen to a ton back in the day.... awesome cover, awesome song. widespread panic does a fantastic cover of jj cale's "ride me high." probably one of my favorite covers of all time.
A few ideas: Slow these way down and give them a blues treatment: Abra Moore: "Strangest Places" Alan Parsons Project: "Don't Answer Me" Give these a reggae treatment: Beatles: "I'll Follow The Sun" Night Ranger: "Don't Tell Me You Love Me"
I'd like to hear any contemporary rock band do the whole Jesus Christ Superstar album. Maybe different bands for different songs. I have always thought about redoing a classical piece with about 10 electric guitars. (think moonlight sonata with a distorted wah wah)
covers are always great ideas.. I personally am atwitter.. in anticipation of.. "I've been loving you too long" by blink 182 "Long train running" by the black eyed peas "Fortunate Son" by maroon 5 "what's going on?" by Jessica Simpson
covers piss me off. if a song is not great on its own, whats the point of covering it? and if a song IS great, I dont want anyone messing with it!
