Dallas had no first round pick this year, and they have Jason Kidd, Gerald Green will probably thrive there, may even start.... Kidd Green Howard Dirk Dampier That is a fairly versatile lineup. DD
Man I just got home from a horrible exam that I'm going to fail for sure, and now I hear this bad news!!! How the ****** did we allow a division rival taking Green?!!! What?!!! so Morey lets him go just like this...bam!...theres no hope in the near future we can get him... I was really hoping, and was actually thinking about it from time to time that Gerald would be able to slam dunk our way to victory! while taunting the hostile Jazz fans and posterizing Boozer and co.!!! This may come back to haunt us... thats all I can say...
You're dreaming if you think Green goes from a bench warmer on a lottery team to being cut by a playoff team to starting on a top western team... teams generally don't sign people they expect to start to one year deals...
Most likely, he will be dropped mid of the season for some mega trade. You can pick him up if like then.
No I didn't......with Kidd he likes big targets on the wings and running. I am not saying he will start, but I could see him getting there, Kidd will make Green look VERY good. DD
Actually, I think Green signed in about the best possible place for him, he will be finishing STRONG on the breaks.....and probably will get a nice fat free agent contract next year..... Watch out for him.....playing with Kidd was the smartest thing he has done thus far in his career. DD
Now that he's with Dallas I hope he lives up to his past expectations, great athletic talent that has not lived up to expectations aka as BUST.
I clearly wanted him here, but only if his head was on straight, after my post last week, I heard some disturbing things in email about him and his crew etc....that led me to believe that maybe he needs to get a fresh start somewhere OTHER than Houston. So, if Morey was not going to go after him, then I am happy for GG the person that he is doing what is right for his career. However, I hope Dallas falls flat on it's face. DD
I was hoping that if he ever lives up to his past expectations, that he'd do it here, in Houston. I thought he'd be an upgrade over Head as out SG backup...you know, backing up the player who he was compared to when he was being drafted? I.e. the next Tracy McGrady...
Do you mind telling us the disturbing things? I'm kind of curious...just wondering. And he's already changed scenery twice, to Minnesota and then Houston. He barely started in Houston, so whatever he does in Houston will always be a fresh start... I've always thought we lacked athleticsm badly on the wings and Gerald was a great acquisition, surely we have a roster spot spare for him?! I mean come on, we had one reserved for Loren Woods...
I would prefer not to, even though I believe it, the info is still hearsay, and the internet has a tendency to blow things out of proportion. As to athleticism...yes....and he will use it in Dallas. The right move for GG for sure....and it is only a one year deal.....I am sure the Mavs offered more but GG probably is looking to cash next off season. Smart move on his part. DD
It was mentioned in another thread that Green has a problem with the green stuff...or at least is careless about using it. I am assuming that the poster who claimed to know this filled DD on some more details that probably shouldn't be made public.
You're kidding, right? The guy is at best the fifth GF on that roster, behind Terry, Stackhouse, Howard, and Eddie Jones. And he's going to have to beat out sharp-shooting Shan Foster, who Dallas drafted in the 2nd Round. Besides all that, the Mavs are still only had 8 returning players on their roster. They've got about 5 roster slots left to fill. If I were Gerald Green, I wouldn't buy any trophy cases for Most Improved Player or 6th Man of the Year just yet.
Oh yeah, from Gerald's point of view, its a good move. But from the Rocket's point of view...I'm not so sure...I don't like the idea of giving up serious talent...
