Tony Allen would be a decent addition to this team. He can play some point, is a good slasher, and is good defender.

I know he has been injured the last couple of years, but he looked fully recovered during the Celtics playoff run (in the games he played).

If we can't get Barry, Tony would be a good choice to offer part of the MLE to.

Pass on Tony Allen. He can't play the point at all, unless you think Head-like PG play is acceptable. He's a poor shooter and decision maker. And he's also severely injured his knee twice. Yes, he does give good effort on D. Is he an upgrade to Luther? Barely.

I was just thinking that in another thread that some PG type help like Allen, House, Duhon, Anthony Carter (depending on price, my first choice I think...he seems like he would really know how to run a team) could all be good signing if we were able to / required to trade Rafer in a package to get a good, offensive minded SF/SG player (ala Maggette).

You are really lacking a quality PG at that point, relying on Brooks and whoever you could sign, BUT at the end of games, couldn't you run a 5 man unit where Tracy was effectively your PG? Did the board decide...is he a point-forward or not? :D

I wouldn't be opposed to this. Tony could fill in off the bench at either spot, either PG or SG (more at the 2), and still has a lot of potential. He was putting up some damn good numbers just before he got injured (check his 06-07 game log to see), and if he can return that form, I think he'd be worth bringing in to camp.

I WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE HIM ON OUR TEAM.

    Good Defender
    Athletic, long
    Good slasher
    Decent shooter
    Still has good potential

...and he went to OSU :)

So yeah, I would love to have him

Leave the decision to Morey. Morey should know Tony Allen well, very well, as Tony was drafted (by Boston) while he was working for Boston.

TA has grown up. The $64 question on him is his knee(s). He could play the 1 a very little, but could play the b/u 2 and even 2/3. But, at what price?

There is zero chance of a (partial) MLE offer to anyone until the Landry issue is dealt with.

BTW - is there a name of a UFA, an RFA, a contracted player under contract in the whole of the NBA not cited somewhere, somehow on the BBS?

BTW II - why is there not a rumbling about either TMac or Battier anywhere with all the names tossed out? At least none in the days since the draft, a veritable millenium in rumor circles.

BTW III - when do we start hearing about Chuck Hayes getting into a deal?

He already played for us and didn't pan out. You may remember him...his name was Kirk Snyder :D

Seriously, though, I think we can spend our money more efficiently than taking a gamble on TA.

Now we have to hope DM can make a good trade or two and upgrade our bench or PG

Tony has proven that he is better than Kirk. Definitely smarter (although stupidity when he injured his ACL, lol).
