    I like.

Is it me or are movies these days getting grittier and darker?

I'm quite pleased with the reboot of 007. Though I'm a fan of the previous chain of films, they were just getting so old.. so drab.. so predictable... so formulaic.

Casino Royale was perfectly executed. And it seems that that has opened the door for films such as QoS, which won't have to fit into a cheesy 007 mold and can develop tone, character, story and dialogue much more freely.

    I'm looking forward to it.

I think the name of the movie is actually "Quantum of Solace."

Looks great. Aside from The Dark Knight, it's my most eagerly anticipated movie of '08. It'll be interesting also to see a direct sequel in the Bond series. They've never really done that before(From Russia With Love comes closest).

They are but that is not what Bond movies are supposed to be about. They're supposed to be sleek, classy, and cool. This looks more like a Jason Stathom movie. I don't even like the dude they have doing the Bond movies now and seeing Bond walk into the screen with a freakin' AK is sickening. WTF, where is the walter pistol?

I guess i'll have to wait a decade before they return back to what makes James Bond movies special.

^^^ They did four decades worth of that type of Bond film and it got old, over the top, predictable and cheesy.

If they wanted to make any decent off the franchise, the HAD to start fresh. Casino Royale is easily my favorite of the bond films and the only one I have on DVD; it showed a Bond never seen before, a Bond fresh into "00" status...raw, unpredictable...that single film showed more depth and personality from the main character than all the Brosnan films combined.

Quantum of Solace is looking like an extenuation of the style from Casino Royale...so it's gonna be a must see.

Casino Royale got a 94% rating from rottentomatoes, 8.0 on IMDB and grossed 167mill domestically, compared to the last Brosnan film which had a 59% on rottentomatoes, 6.1 on IMDB and hauled in 160mill (it grossed more on opening weekend but less overall to Casino Royale, which probably tells you people were skeptical about Daniel Craig initially but good word of mouth made it a success)....so Casino Royale being a critical and box office success, I doubt they return to the old formula any time soon...but you may and probably will see (if Craig stays with the franchise for awhile) the transition to the more "cool under pressure" type Bond, but still hopefully keeping the grittiness intact.

You mean flacid leading men sporting spare tires, hair pieces, bad special effects, and terrible writing?

I know alot of people don't like that kind of stuff but why change it for the people that do? Why not just make some other film like it?

My biggest problem with it is that it is just no longer a Bond film. I used to like to think of 007 as more of a superhero anyway, so the cheesiness didn't bother me. It just seems like their following the trend of current action films. I feel like if one of these movies flops, so will the franchise.

I'm a bond fan. Loved Sean Connery. I actually like the Roger Moore era, and I even found entertainment in the Timothy Dalton movies. I really like Pierce Brosnin as an actor, but the series really was getting tired--even though I was usually there on opening day. When you start topping ridiculous with even more ridiculous........eventually it gets ridiculous. I'll probably still stop the TV on ANY of the old Bond films while flipping channels. I love 'em........but the new direction is awesome.

And I ain't kidding when I say it: Casino Royale (though far from perfect) is easily my favorite Bond flick of all time. They even said that this Bond movie was supposed to show Bond coming up, so he wasn't supposed to be as polished or "cool" as the older Bonds depicted in the earlier films. They were trying to capture the events that made him become who he he became. I think they did an incredible job, and I cant wait for QOS. I doubt I'll change anyone's mind, but that doesn't matter...........I'm still gonna have to get to the theater earlier because QOS is going to be a blockbuster.

I can't wait to see this one, it looks AWESOME. It's the movie I've wanted to see most this year, followed closely by Batman.

Gonna watch the first one with my girl sometime this week again, she hasn't seen it yet. Same with Batman begins.

Never really been into Bond flicks. I remember when I was a youngster and "License to Kill" came out I thought 007 was that license and it meant that you had a license to kill as you please. :D

WTF are you talking about, where is he using an AK (and it's not like he hasn't fired one before btw)? The gun he's holding is an MP5. Plus, of course he still uses a walther. You are aware these movies rebooted the franchise, right? The last one was Bond in his first days as a 00 agent and this one picks up right after that one.
