Come on Morey let's bring in Horry and Finley also, so that we can have San Antonio mojo. It is an odd year for the finals ('09). get my drift...Championship baby
Not worth it. He opted out of a 3 mil salary so he probably wants around the MLE. A better Steve Novak that does other things a bit better? Certainly not for 5-7 times the price.
SAS fans think that Barry has a contract with them still next year. I don't know how it is? I think that he would be good insurance for B-U SG.
Maybe Landry? I would take Barry for the LEE not knowing the rest of free ageny, but if you told me I could land Pietrus with the MLE, I would save the LLE to try to keep us in play for Landry. But if Pietrus is off the market (Sasha or JR Smith are some others I might make a run for with most of the MLE) or it is clear Landry can get more years/$ than an LEE, sure I'll sign Brent.
I wonder if you did give landry part of the MLE if either of mo evans or matt barnes would be attainable with the other half.. then sign barry with the LLE. that might be the best case scenario.
Similar to my thinking as well.. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=150572&page=2 But I'd 1st rather go for Pietrus or Posey over Barry + Evans. But if you tell me right now we could get Evans, Landry and Barry out of our MLE and LLE I'd take it.
i'd love posey or pietrus as well, but definitely wouldn't mind the evans/barnes, landry and barry one as well.
If given playing time, Brent Barry would thrive with the Rockets. He's a perfect fit for a team looking to make a run next year.
I don't know if Barry/Horry will sign with us or not but they backed away from us because of the health issues and the inability of Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady to play well in the clutch. Lack of money for better FA's obviously is another issue. Vets like Horry and Barry are heady and have a lot of experience but we are not close to making a championship run.We did extremely well considering the injury to Yao and also to a certain extent with Tracy but there is a big difference between a Championship team and a hard working overachieving ball club in a very tough Western Conference which is just starting to get out of the huge hole they have been in for years.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-barondavisfreeagent063008&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Rockets tried to sign Brent Barry back in 2004 and earlier this year. Are the Rockets setting themselves up for another rejection?
Morey has a while back that he expects to make a trade this summer. He said he saw the draft and FA markets as not viable ways to significantly improve the team. I'd say that's true. Doresey/Green, eh. MIGHT be nice surprises. Horry/Barry. Good bit players esp come playoffs. That's about it. I fully expect that we will move at least one starter via trade this summer. Don't panic about early summer moves.
At the very least they'll have to waive one guaranteed player if they sign Barry and re-sign Landry & Deke.
