Not really, he's still very effective in the point-forward role. I think he'll fit very nicely in the backcourt with Brooks who is more of scorer.
udrih would be great. NOt sure about starting though. Hear me out. when yao is in, rafer should run the offense. he knows what to do and puts it where yao wants it. udrih, as i see it, would be amazing off the bench. he attacks the basket like none other. he's tough. then when udrih learns the system ebtter, maybe he takes over. but i really don't mind rafer. its just his shooting thats the issue, everything else about him is pretty solid.
Can't we just get Pargo? He's a free agent isn't he? And what about some kinda deal for Diaw and Barbosa? Can we make one work?
Don't worry double D. I have a feeling the point guard upgrade will come via trade. the return of the value of expiring contracts debate! Either Morey believes Brent Barry can still play point guard and trade for a major player at the deadline, or Morey believes Francis and Brooks will hold the Rockets over until the tradedeadline deal for a legit point guard
I'm not sure management and Morey actually believe we need to upgrade the PG? I think they may be happy with Rafer and are just searching for a back up. other than BBS innuendo, does any one have solid evidence that management is actively looking to find a replacement for Alston?
In addition to B. Davis and Udrih, there are other teams that have a plethora of quality of PGs that may be available for the Rockets. Chicago: Just drafted Rose and rumors are circulating regarding the availability of Hinrich. He's probably priced too high for the Rockets and Im not sure what the Bulls would want from our roster. Memphis: Just drafted Mayo in what is already a deep position with Lowery, Conley and Crittendon. Mayo and Conley are not going anywhere so Lowery and Crittendon may be expendable. I opt for Lowery although the Grizzlies may not want to deal with anyone within their division. Milwaukee: With the emergence of Ramon Sessions towards the latter end of last season, Mo Williams and Charlie Bell could be had. I would imagine that Sessions may be keeper considering his contract. That makes Williams and Bell expendable. Williams may be the one to go given his larger contract. Even though Baron Davis is an intriguing prospect as a point guard solution and 3rd scorer for the Rockets, he is too injury-prone and and a poorer fit since he has to have the ball in his hands to be effective. Udrih may stay with Sacramento since he had success with the Kings. The Warriors will match what Monta Ellis will be offered. Even though he had an off-year last season, Hinrich looks like a good fit. He has size, can shoot. Probably needs a change of scenery would do him good but size of contract may be problematic. Lowery is undersized, but strong, athletic, good rebounder for his size and young. However Memphis may not want to deal with a rival. Mo Williams is probable. He's young enough, can score and be a stabilizing force for several years at the position. If there is a snag in the Landry negotiations, perhaps a package which includes him, Novak (both being from Wisconsin) and another player would be enticing enough for the Bucks to make a deal. At least from a marketing standpoint, the Bucks should at least consider it.
No available PGs out there is an obvious upgrade to Rafer. The league doesn't have many good PGs. Remember last year Rockects got three veteran pgs/combo guards, and none worked out. It may really hurt rockets. I'd rather have a third scorer who is less risk. I heard rumors from sina that Mike Miller may be available.
maybe Eddie House is a more realistic shoot, he is a good shooter who can play both 1&2. and championship experience with reasonable price
Pargo can score, but Im not sure he has the necessary playmaking skills. Rather have Rafer. Pargo moreso as a backup SG than anything.
You actually make the most since on here. Rafer is not bad at running offense, we just count on him to be a third scorer. I would try a Sign and trade with one of our youngsters plus draft pick along with bobby's contract to lure corey.
Jannero Pargo, Hornets, PG-SG: A bargain last season at $1.93 million, he proved his worth with gutty Game 7 performance vs. Spurs. Would offer between $3 million and $5 million be enough to convince him to leave New Orleans?
LOL - this was sort of a tongue in cheek thread, hopefully you can tell by the title. Sense of humor is in short supply around these here parts...these days. DD
Yeah...finally...someones got the common sense to start a PG thread like this. If DD didnt start one I was almost going to start one...but I held out to see what Morey would do first... I am desperate to see changes in the PG department, especially the starter PG spot! Move Rafer for ...anything...anything that might have some value... oh and get Javaris Crittenton! He probably will be our version of Rondo if we get him!!! But first lets see what Morey does first...I am sure he will address this, and so while the speculation is perfectly fine and interesting for me to read what others have to say about our "perennial PG problem"(PPP). If Morey can land these two players in Houston, then I'd be soooooo happy: Ron Artest/or Corey Maggette Javaris Crittenton
