I'm serious: http://blogs.wsj.com/chinajournal/ Fancy being able to say “Yao Ming slept here” in your own home? Well, make room, because now you have a shot at buying the extra-long bed of the 7 and a half-foot (2.3 meter) Houston Rockets star center. Share the Olympic dream on an Olympic mattress– the Beijing Equity Exchange has 16,000 of these for sale (Image from www.cbex.com.cn) It’s part of a plan to auction off a whopping 20 million-plus pieces of Olympics-related memorabilia, set up by the Beijing Equity Exchange and the Beijing Olympics organizers (announcement in Chinese here). These will include sporting goods, technical equipment and furniture and appliances. Already, the first batch — tens of thousands of items in about 100 categories– has been listed on the exchange’s Web site. Among the offerings: chairs, tea tables, ironing boards, trash cans, shower stools and 16,000 single mattresses (may be purchased individually). Stock will be replenished regularly and made available for buyers to claim right after the Games.
It sounds ridiculous! Are you serious about this news? Someone who would ever takes his(the exchange’s president) idea is either stupid or crazy. btw, if you'are interested in any chinese-related stuff, ChinaDaily isn't a bad choice, imo.
They must have been planning this promo for a really long time. They had to get Yao to sleep on 16,000 mattresses! I don't know if the beds we're taken on the road trips, regarless it had to of taken Yao almost 44 years if my math if correct to individually sleep on each mattress for one night!.. If only he signed each one as well, then it would have been a better bargain.
