I'm really pleased with Cato at this point.He seems to be really enjoying playing well and his confidence in his game is building.Why bring in a new guy that will take time to develop,when Cato is finally starting to come around? As far as Ming,I don't know what to think about him ...but usually if it's too good to be true..blah blah but he is a freak no doubt about it.my guess is he'll go #1. LoL look at this
There's no way an NBA team will send a player to the Shanghai Sharks. It's absurd, you wouldn't enter the draft knowing you could be playing in China. That's ONE reason. They may have asked for it, but it's impossible. Name ONE player that would accept a trade to Shanghai? Besides, how would it be possible to trade Cato for Ming, who can make $3-4M MAXIMUM. It's safe to say they'll settle for a few exhibitions there over the next few years. As for Ming. I can't tell you how good we'd be if we had the luxury of starting Cato, so that he can take his time to develop.
Sane, I AGREE WITH YOU!!! What I'm saying is, although it would be great to be the envy of the league with this highly-coveted player, and despite his great upside, let's not get our hopes up for Yao (have I been calling him Mao? isn't he named Yao Ming?), and think of our alternatives for center (Cato + Mo + EG, et al.) For example, it was mentioned the Chinese government would prefer Yao plays in a city with a strong Chinese/Sino-American presence. Makes sense, I suppose. Can they force this? No. Another absurd stipulation? Yes. Possibly these absurd stipulations are just means to keep him in China until they're ready to let him go. But who knows?

I simply meant that the folks who suggested the trade idea must be smoking some opium or something. It an't gonna happen. It sounds like you agree. My sentiments exactly! Cato is actually a pretty smart player and starting to understand how to use what physical skills he has. He really needs to work on expanding his offense, controlling the ball better, and put backs. He could get 10-14 points/game strictly on garbage and "bombs." Our "investment" in him is just starting to reap benefits. And don't forget that the NBA inside game takes more to learn than any other. He IS a pretty good fit. Don't believe I'm saying this but I really like what I'm seeing from him re. smarts, effort, rebounding, taking charges and position defense Dallas Rocket

I have been a Cato basher for two years, but I really like the way he is playing recently. If this continues for the rest of the year, I say (I can't believe I am saying it), let's keep him. O.K., I feel better, confession is good for the soul.
I just don´t get it, when Cato is finally playing well, we want to trade him. Come on people, stop the bashing. I think this team is just fine, we only need time to develop our young players.
I wonder if the NBA's Collective Bargaining Agreement with the player's union allows for an NBA player under contract with the league to be banished to Communist China. This sounds a little worse than even getting drafted by Vancover. The consideration would have to be cash, and/or playing some exhibitions in China. On a related matter, didn't the league rules only allow Memphis to pay $300,000.00 to the Spanish club for Gasol, and the rest had to come out of Gasol's pocket?
