Movie was amazing. I like all the Pixar movies and this is by far the best one. Ratatouille/Cars being the worst.
Boxofficeguru says this movie won't break records. I'm going to state right here, for the record, that it -will- break records.
whether it's better or not won't tell you if it will break box office records. that has more to do with timing of release and breadth of audience. popularity and quality don't necessarily equate. however...this is pixar...in the summer...with the widest breadth of audience possible...and it's getting 97% now on rotten tomatoes.
No.......but it still might break records. It appears to be the In-n-Out burger of movies. It is most definitely good; I was just expecting more with such a well oiled hype machine.
really??? hype never leads me to think quality is following...not with movies, anyway. i was expecting a kids movie. it was far more than a kids movie.
I was expecting that some day, college courses will be dedicated to this movie. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the movie, and as someone who needs to shed more weight, and as someone who has come to realize that I'm burdened with to much material "crap," the social commentary really spoke to me. The animation was incredible, and I really, really, really think it was a darn good movie. But I do peruse IMDB and rottentomatoes. I do look at yahoo user reviews. And I probably went in with a bit more loftier expectations than you did. I was expecting something better than Finding Nemo, and I didn't even think it was better than Ratatouille.
wow...i feel like we saw 2 different movies if you can even compare it to ratatouille! there was nothing formulaic about this movie. ratatouille was among the worst of the pixar movies in my view. i can see enjoying nemo or toy story mor than wall-e...because they're fun movies. but wall-e is more than that, in my view. the social commentary married to the relationship of the robots...just lots of metaphor that i found to be a lot lot lot deeper than i expected to ever see from a pixar movie.
I've seen Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Finding Nemo, and then Cars. After Cars I decided I just can't get into an animated kids movies any more, no matter how good it is.
cars isn't even in the same discussion. i've seen cars a bazillion times with my 3 year old who absolutely loves lightning mcqueen. this isn't the same thing. not even close.
Wow, I can't believe so many disliked Ratatouille but to each their own I guess. I enjoyed Ratatouille for the same reasons MadMax enjoyed this movie though. Hopefully, I will enjoy this movie too.
Yeah, but even Finding Nemo was just too sugary for me. I didn't really find it funny and I suppose I'm just not in the target demographic to find it "cute" Just let me enjoy this 10 year period between liking kids movies and then liking them again when I have kids.
Well.......I'm going to say one more thing, and then I'll let it drop. I've already made my comments about Wall-e: I liked it; thought it was a great movie. Definitely worth seeing; did not live up to the expectations I had going in. As for Ratatouille, I should not have let other people's opinions guide my comments here about that movie. I made it seem like a second class citizen with my comments. It only had a smattering of social commentary, but I really liked that movie. There, I said it..........I think Ratatouille is a great flick.
i don't understand people who think that just because a movie includes social commentary, it is therefore a great movie. it's like you feel that just because you recognize that amidst a light-hearted, sweet story, there is a social wake-up call packed in, that it is automatically qualified as a great, important movie. i found the social commentary to be a bit too nose-in-the-air and disconnected from the main story for my liking, and it seemed unnecessary. and i'm not referring to you per se, but to pompous critics who make claims like "some day, there will be college courses devoted to this movie". maybe i'm just too cynical, but i'm guessing that guy has been sitting on that quote for years waiting for his first opportunity to bust it out. have you ever seen the movie "Idiocracy"? it delivers the exact same message, completely satirically, devoid of preachiness, and tongue-in-cheek. that's how i prefer my social commentary, but to each his own. call me crazy, but something about Disney shoving it down the throats of us and our children doesn't sit well with me.
