Another vote for Taste of Texas here! I imagine you could do better with Ruth Cris or something like that, but of the ones I've been to, Taste of Texas rocks.
I like Taste of Texas better than Ruth Chris or Pappas. Better than these is Carrabas on Kirby near Richmond- if you like a filet mignon, the small one is excellent - seasoned well, cooked exactly as directed. Best reasonably priced wine-Cabernet with steak - Clos Du Bois. The Outback is good A Train -if you like Caesar - they have my favorite.
I have to admit nothing hits the spot better than a nice Ribeye or Filet Mignon steak. Houston has a plethora of wonderful steakhouses for fill all tastes. TOP TIER Morton's Pappa Bros. Ruth Chris Fancy Place and Great Steak: Capital Grille Sullivans For the best churrasco steak in Houston...go to America's in the old Saks Pavillion....that is my favorite steak in Houston.
They have them in Dallas, but I've heard people say it's so-so... not bad, but not that great. I've never eaten there myself, so I have no opinion.
Wherever you eat...make sure they serve USDA Prime beef. If you're paying $25+ for a steak, it better be. The whole "Certified Angus" thing is a marketing ploy; it's really only a USDA Choice cut of meat. Personally, the best steak I've had in Houston was cooked in my backyard (plus you don't get screwed on the 125% wine markup). Pete's Fine Meats on Richmond @ Sage is the best meatmarket I've found, definitely beats the heck out of grocery-store steaks (but it's a little pricey). But, like others have said, you can't go wrong w/ the Palm or Pappas.
Actually they do have em in Houston. I am serious though guys. Trust me on this one. I have eaten steaks at many many fine places, but nothing can beat Brenner's. Its that good!!!!!!!! Its not that expensive. I had an 8 oz. filet mignon which was around $32. That is not bad compared to some other high dollar places.
