I think Memphis has a lot of potential; too bad they have a really cheap owner. PG: M. Conely SG: O. Mayo SF: R. Gay PF: D. Arthur C: M. Gasol Not too shabby, loads of potential.
199ers are human just like the people that started an account in 2008. You and the rest of your crew are not special. He disrespected 1st and I returned the favor.
My god. I didn't realize how bad the contracts for Jaric and Buckner are. Together they'll be on Memphis' cap for over 10 million per for the next three years. And with 5 PG's/Combo-guards on their roster, maybe we can do a deal with one of our redundant forwards. Hayes for Lowry or Crittenton? Edit: Nevermind about Buckner. His contract isn't guaranteed after this season. But Jaric's deal is still a stinker.
I realy love Mayo, for me he was the finest player in this year's draft (i know it may sound funny) But I love him, he can do it all, he can pass, he can shoot, get inside... BTW Miller is miller, he is a real time SHOOTER, but right now I belive it was bad trade for Wolves..they should keep Mayo.
sory for 2nd straight post the only good thing are Jaric's and Buckner's contracts. Now it will be nice to watch Gay and Mayo on the same team.
WTF?! Why do the Wolves need TWO strictly power forwards in Love and AJ? This doesn't make sense; it's almost as if Chris Wallace and Kevin were like, "hey dude you bored too? let's screw ourselves over" kind of gag...
Well I think this makes Memphis an ideal trading partner for us. They have 4 point guards under contract (and actually all 4 are pretty good) - we might be able to pry one of them away.
At first I thought this was a great trade for Minny. They get the big man to complement Jefferson. They get a 2nd scorer in Miller. They get rid of a couple of bad contracts in Buckner and Jaric but then I remembered: -Minnesota drafted Ray Allen and traded him for Stephon Marbury -Minnesota drafted Brandon Roy and traded him for Randy Foye -Minnesota just drafted OJ Mayo and traded him for Kevin Love Ray Allen is having one heck of a career while Marbury is losing his mind in NY. Roy probably was probably Portland's choice all along but, hey, Minny still had him for a few minutes. In other words, I think Minnesota is cursed.
Funny comment by Bill Simmons. Right after I handed in this column, Chris Wallace and Kevin McHale hooked up for an eight-player mega deal that was the Atrocious GMs' version of the "Freddy vs. Jason" and "Alien vs. Predator" movies. Basically, Minnesota turned O.J. Mayo into Mike Miller and Kevin Love, Memphis took back bad more bad contracts than Minnesota, and Wallace cemented his reputation as the undisputed worst GM in basketball. Needless to say, Mayo was probably a lot happier than he was at the 4:50 mark of this diary. Also, congrats to McHale for being the first GM to trade for three white guys in the same deal since Alex Hannum in 1965. And if you're scoring at home, I think McHale was Freddy and Wallace was Jason. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/080626
you're crazy, memphis got the third highest prospect in the draft and you want to give two pgs at the end of their careers. come on dude, be for real
I'd guess their lineup for next season would be: Conley, Lowry, Crittenton Jaric, Mayo, Buckner Gay, Walker Warrick, Arthur Gasol, Darko
Memphis has Conley, Crittenton, Lowry...doesn't make too much sense with the Grizz...but not too many things do
mayo isn't a pg, and for all the criticism he received, he actually played the position fairly decently. the quesiton will be will he be big enough to be an effective two guard. but he can definitely score and the fact that he can play point is a bonus
Is there any way we can trade for Mike Miller after some time like 90 days or something. I remeber hearing a rule that you have to wait a certain amount of time before trading a player that you traded for. Can we trade for Miller then?
