http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3462005 What do you think guy. Is he worth the mid level?
maybe the LLE. He's a good perimeter shooter and has flashes of pretty decent defense but that's about it.
He's in no way a PF. That's misprint or the people at ESPN are just stupid. No way I would give him the full MLE, but if Landry takes ~3 million, I'd give Jones the remaining ~2.5 for sure.
Maybe for a Multi year contract? Or maybe for more money and then like Bonzi, when he don't get the money he wants he will have to sign for cheap.
Nate McMillan liked him very much. He felt that his presence added experience to the squad. They wanted him to play a full season before deciding whether to give him a multi-year contract.
As someone else said, a longer term deal. He supposedly has knee issues and may not have felt confident about getting a lot of playing time in Portland this coming year with all the young talent they have, thus reducing his value. Going on the market now might be the right choice for him, even if he takes a short term pay cut.
I'd love for James Jones to man the back-up SF until Greene develops. Then slide him back to the 2. But our money is pretty tight with our main priority is resigning Landry.
