yeah...haven't seen anything on ESPN about the trade - maybe draftexpress was mistaken. we shall see.
I think Batum is an excellent pick. I'm more interested in our second rounder. I think we'll uncover a good scoring two guard. I'd like to see Roby, Kyle Weaver, Gary Forbes, or Sonny Weems taken here. Has CDR been picked up yet? When T-Mac and Shane hits the pine Roby and Batum could pick up the scoring slack, and play good D. Or Roby and Batum could share the two spot, giving us some length, and send T-Mac back to the three and split time with Shane. I believe Batum will show his stuff in summer league, and be a contributing member of the rotation halfway into the season. I hate seeing O'Neal going to Toronto. I wish we could put him behind and next to Ming. This could reduce some of Yao's playing time, and give us another good power forward. Toronto might take Brooks and Hayes. They seem to really need a point. I suggested getting O'Neal before for this and everyone thought I was dreaming... I also believe a trade is looming for a few of our bench players. Those of you who a fearing a beast being bread up in Portland...fear not. I remember the same being said of one young Orlando team who made their way to the finals against the one they called The Dream. They were soon having recurring nightmares about shooting freethrows and were soon disbanded after being swept back to Florida. All young teams eventually make trades for veteran leadership and guidance. Youth is wasted on the young...watch Cleveland carefully. They will go through this first. Actually they're going through it right now.
We could get Arthur and CDR in this draft then we can sign and trade Landry this summer for a legit veteran third scorer. we would be set.. Arthur has more upside than Landry. Come on Morey, do it do it....
Yeah he was pimping the Rockets pretty hard in the chat. No indication that he thought he was being traded.
Game plan - trade Landry, Scola or Arthurs + Bobby Jackson's expiry (+ Head)for M. Miller, draft Chalmers @ 33 ... then set at PG (Alston, Chalmers and Brooks), at 2/3 with TMac, Battier and M-Miller (3rd scorer as well), at 4 with 2 of Scola, Landry and Arthurs + Hayes, and C with Yao and Mutumbo.
He would never be the center piece in any trade, he's what makes the money work. Like V-Span, we wouldn't waive him like he wanted, but we used his contract, same thing with Chuck.
D Arthur NBA Comparison: Antonio McDyess Strengths: A skilled power forward with a tremendous package of size and athleticism ... Measures in at 6'9 230 lbs with bigtime hops and lateral quickness ... Possesses a good handle for a player his size as well as a mid-range shot ... Led the Jayhawks in blocked shots as a freshman with 56, displaying his quick, explosive vertical leap ... Had a big game against Florida early in the season with 19 points and 9 rebounds, showing that he can compete with NBA caliber big men and step up when it counts ... Finished the year averaging 9.8 ppg, good for fourth on a talented Kansas team ... Runs the floor very well for his size, very fluid ... Solid post moves for a player his age, and showing good development in his post game ... His shooting touch id good and his range seems to be improving ..
Well Portland just picked another F (Joey Dorsey), so trading for the #33 pick wouldn't make much sense....
you can't compare portland to the magic. The magic had 2 egotistical young and rising stars, where as portland has more then 3, now possibly 4 rising stars that have good character. Please don't compare "hardaway, the homosexual hater to Roy, an upholding citizen."
