I was reading draftexpress when this kind of made me angry. San Antonio is manipulating the lower half of the first round and teams like the Rockets that need a swingman like Batum could miss out because of health concerns.
wouldnt this be illegal I dont see how a team can make a player promise to them to not pass out his physical without any compensation in return. not working out for other teams is one thing, but not handing out information? sounds like tampering to me. the spurs would have to be willing to pay him extra to make him not to do that, but then at the same time if he does hand his physical out to other teams he may be able to improve his own stock and go higher in the draft. something doesnt seem right here
San Antonio wouldn't be making Batum do anything. If he's holding the health report back it's because he and his agent want to try and manipulate things (which a lot of agents try and do through various means).
Chad Ford: The Spurs sent an e-mail to every team in the league at 3:30 p.m. saying that they were willing to move the 26th pick. The e-mail asked league executives to "E-mail us your interest and your offers to 26." That's the first time I've heard of something like this in all of my years covering the draft. Make your Spurs pitch below in our comments section. http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draf...ry?columnist=ford_chad&page=DraftWatch-080626 ----------------------------------------------------------------- LOL....So is this one of their tricks too?
Good call and that's what the Spurs get. Screw San Antonio and keep Batum so that we can rub it in their faces when him and Scola are tearing them apart in the near future.
