His agent says different, as of the Sacremento paper today. You can't believe anything these days...just saying: http://www.sacbee.com/100/story/1037662.html
Vescey may have credibility issues, but he has broken big stories before. I don't think he makes stuff up....per se. DD
I like that trade too. Artest is a bomb just waiting to explode with Theus. Adelman has had sucess with him as seen during the 2005-2006 season. Also gives the Rockets the third scorer they're lacking. This trade gives the Kings a good developing back up PG and Battier can play mentor to Martin and Garcia. I would love to have Battier on the Kings.
This was barely a week ago: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playo...nist=stein_marc&page=steinsixquestions-080620 Artest followed up our Tuesday interview with an e-mail Thursday in which he said: "Even if I was to opt out, which probably won't happen, I will never accept a mid-level exception.."
Rodman was both intelligent and was able to impact the game without the ball in his hands or any plays called. Artest is not so bright and always wants to be the hero in crunchtime.
I understand your sentiment but Artest is harder to control than Rodman. Rodman was a clown. Artest is a domineering alpha dog who barks orders, thinks he's better than everyone else AND thinks he knows it all. I repeat: Compared to Artest, Rodman was just a flakey clown who acted funny.
Holy crap you just read my mind. I also agree with all the other posts that Kobe won't keep Artest in line like Jordan/Rodman. Kobe and Artest will be like throwing two guys into the Real World house.
It is hard to see him taking a MLE deal because the financial numbers are poor. He will have surrendered his Bird Rights during the time frame for what will likely be his last major contract. Players like Sam Cassell, Mighty Mouse, Payton and others had already signed their last major deals and were doing the Ring Chase as a finish to their careers. Artest is 28 and will be 29 in November. He is starting to age, but he isn't old enough to leave money on the table and start the Ring Chase.
i can see him playing for the lakers he is good friends with kobe and he has played in the triangle before
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s24k...bryant-does-an-interview-withron-artest-17915 If Artest can't get along with Phil and Kobe, he won't get along with any team.
Actually I think Kobe is pretty difficult to get along with. And further I can't see Artest taking crap from anybody. bWho is to say he can get along with any team. Say if they traded Odom + pick for Artest I would say there is a greater chance of more chemistry damage than the fact that Artest skills are a much better fit. Anyone who takes Artest is taking a HUGE chemistry gamble. And A3_PO is right. Rodman is a clown in terms of antics, but completely different court personality than Artest. Rodman was an excellent team basketball player who knew his strengths and weaknesses and how to get under OPPONENTS' skins. The fact Rodman didn't work in SA has more to do with the self-rightousness of that environment concerning his antics and off the court behavior than his on court behavior. Jordan and Phil didn't have to turn Rodman into a good team basketball player, he already was, they just let him be who he was as long as he brought his lunch pail on game day and played in the system, which he did to a T. Artest is like an even more bizarre, out there, version of Mad Max. Unpredictable and with a huge ego.
