That sums up how I feel. I don't really feel getting Heinrich is a possiblity. We would either have to give up too much or they wouldn't want what we have to offer.
You forgot the extra cash we are gonna have to pay up for this "upgrade" did you not watch the Rockets last season....Rafer isnt the problems....we need a backup wing player with size...or a 3rd scorer...and Kirk is none of those
I'm on the Hinrich bandwagon... Maybe get a third team in the mix to move Rafer. Otherwise, if Chicago is game, I'd give 'em their choice of as many or few of the following as the want: BJs expiring, Novak, Head, Hayes, SF, Woods, Harris + a 2nd rd. Realizing they couldnt take all 6 for obvious salary cap restrictions.
Upgrades always cost money. Moving Rafer to the bench makes both our bench and starting rotation better.
10.1 points on 9.5 shots is good for a career. 16.6 points on 13.3 shots (2 years ago) is incredible for a point guard for whom scoring is a secondary job.
Kirk hinrich would be a great fit to this team. The Rockets could probably get him cheap too considering Hinrich had a bad season. I think Hinrich just needs a better team to play for and last year was just a bad year and nothing more. Tyson Chandler had a bad year the last year he played for the bulls and now look at him.
for $10MM, no thanks, i don't even think he's that great in adelman's system. judging by the playoffs, if the rockets are going to pay that much to a pg, he has to penetrate
We have to measure everything in terms of What Would Morey Do...wrt moneyball. Morey might ( m i g h t ) use $10m/yr on the PG position, but not for Hinrich. It would have to be a legit star. Plus, he is certainly not going to platoon two average/borderline starter PGs for max pay (in sum). If Morey tells the coach all he can is offer a platoon situation, one of the players is going to be rookie scale and the other mid level or slightly higher. They are not going to add up to a max salary, because a platoon situation does not equal having a star player worthy of max pay. imo, Hinrich is not only unattainable for us for reason provided earlier in this thread, but also he is too expensive for his value, which means Morey won't be interested.
one horrible stat for Rafer is his FTA. Seeing Kirk's FTA is also low, I'd say pass on him and save the 10M. Kirk is not a much improvement over Rafer.
Let me ask you this: if we were $15m under the cap, would you spend $10m of that on Hinrich? I might, but only after failing to land several other FAs; thus I'd consider it a last ditch, poor use of $10m in cap room.
One thing you all gotta bear in mind is that Kirk Hinrich has NEVER played with a guy who has a low post presence like Yao. Or a Swingman that can draw double teams like no tomorrow like Tracy Mcgrady. I would definetly get him if I was convinced he could: Fit the system Pass to Yao and most importantly Hit his open shots. I'm convinced if Hinrich got the amount of shots Rafer did last year he would be killing it. I would take him and see his numbers skyrocket.
if, if, if... Do you people realize that the bulls don't have to move Hinrich? With him being such a big PG, he can play the 2 just like he's been doing for long stretches in his career. It is very likely that the bulls might be more interested in a S&T involving Ben Gordon.
Would you trade Luther and Bjax for him? Because that is about 10m....or what about Francis and Bjax? Or Rafer and Luther and Hayes.... You can get it done and I believe he has a declining contract over the next few years so he actually gets cheaper. DD
As substantial as a 41% shooter or a 38% shooter. They are both bad! The assist number are somewhat skewed with Rafer because tracy handles the ball alot on this team. For 11 million wich is what kirk is gonna make next year as opposed to 4 million for Rafer, that .03% is not worth 7 mill. Again not really an upgrade and extremely overpriced.
