wow....dumb move on their part. they need to get melo the f out of there and clean up their thug team. dude is extremely talented but too much of head case. that would have been a MASSIVE upgrade for their defense, for their locker room, and for their image. billups' best years are behind him but he is still a solid defender and extremely efficient scorer. prince is a great defender and a solid scorer. that would have been a perfect trade for the nuggets imo.

Not only is it Melo, but there's also JR Smith who portrays that 'thug' image

    I've thought about it.

I'd trade Tmac for Melo. It's not a popular decision, but maybe the right one for the Rox. Melo is much younger, healthier, and hasn't peaked. Melo scores like Tmac did in his prime. Has a better %, better 3pt shooter, more FTs and better percentage. Tmac is a better passer and defender, but Melo can improve in these areas (he's only 24). If we could get him and keep him from being a headcase (can we?) then I'd do it.

Denver should not trade Melo for anything less than LeBron. Definitely not to take on Billups and Prince.

We wouldn't even have this convo if Detroit wasn't stupid and drafted Darko.

Melo for Kwame Brown would be a great deal for the Nuggets. Gets rid of their thug image, strengthens their interior defense, and improves team chemistry.

Haha good point. That had to be one of the WORST draft picks in history.

How has George Karl managed to keep his job as coach of the Denver Nuggets?

Only God knows how. Maybe Nuggets4 can shed some light as well.

Denver should have taken the Detroit deal.

Detroit should have just drafted Melo in the first place instead of Darko and they wouldn't have to trade anybody. Instead, eventually that #2 Pick ended up being Kelvin Cato.

Trading away Melo for an over-the-hill Chauncey Billups and a player who has hit his ceiling like Tayshaun Prince would be just plain stupid for the Nuggets. Forget Chauncey's connection with Denver. Right now, any team that gives the Pistons a franchise-type player for those two guys is crazy.

Throw Rip Hamilton into the mix in place of either, then this gets interesting. Either one (or both) of Rodney Stuckey and Jason Maxiell should also be on the table if Melo is involved.

Some of you will say this is harsh, but considering their fat contracts and abilities, Chauncey and Tayshaun are like 8 day-old leftovers compared to players like Tracy and Melo.

    Nope.

That #2 pick ended up being Rodney Stuckey.

Seriously...Melo can be a headcase, for sure, but the right coach gets much better results out of that Denver team.

I would trade T-Mac for Melo, personally.

Melo isn't in the same world when it comes to passing. Melo doesn't make his teammates better.

If the Pistons had drafted Melo, they wouldn't have won the championship the year they did.

Seriously, this Detroit-Wants-Melo talk is too funny. Drafting Darko will go down as one of the worst draft decisions of all time.

i don't know about that but I agree with the sentiment, dude is one of the best scores in the league, he's shown constant improvement as a player and is only 24 as of 5/29

    but, he's a thug, haha

Detroit gets worse if they trade away Billups and Prince for Carmelo Anthony. I don't think it helps Denver much either if you look ahead a couple years. If they're going to give up Melo, they need to get back a star player at a similar age.

And I think Billups might be the most underrated PG in the league right now. At this stage in their respective careers, Billups is a better player than Carmelo.
