One of the lakers fan there said "I'd make a trade with them; Odom to them and we get a mix of Battier and picks."

I SAY WE DO THIS TRADE!! We need height and a decent scorer. Odom is both.

i'd trade tmac for the right deal. i would trade him if they give us hamilton + prince + one of their picks.

then we can use that to springboard a trade that would unload battier and maybe bring in a PG to back up rafer. then we have a legit deep team.

i think those trades would make us a better team. i would only trade tmac if it makes us better, not the same or worse. all the trades that have been proposed have mainly made us worse.

Sir, I doubt your fanhood to the Houston Rockets for suggesting trading away TMac for Overrated + Bag of Chips + 3rd string PF.

I think I joined "the other side" in an older debate...

Mcgrady + 2nd round pick for Kobe, straight up.

Dude, what? You want acquire a "decent scorer" by giving up one of the best offensive players in the NBA? Did you watch the playoffs? Odom averages 14 points per game ... and you want that over TMac's 27ppg?

He's referring to Odom for Battier and change; not Odom for McGrady. Reading is fundamental.

As for Odom for Battier and change...it would be quite interesting...even AFTER Lamar's lackluster performance in the Finals. BUT his contract is enticing..

No, but we could trade, Battier, Scola, Landry, Rafer, Brooks, Bobby Jackson, plus our first round draft choice for Kobe.

This trade doesn't make any sense for us on a lot of levels:

    1. VladRad would end up being a waste of space on the roster. He is Novak but maybe a tad less soft. Whoopty friggin doo.

    2. Turiaf would be nice but hes nothing all that special, as far as backup 5 goes (if that is indeed what you're envisioning him playing) then I'd say we should take our chance with the draft, FA, or dare I say Loren Woods. I'd rather give Luther + cash for him if we are really set on getting him.

    3. Odom is a nice player, a NICE player. However, to imagine him stepping in to take on even a portion of Tmac's responsibility is just lunacy. Odom has shown he can be a good 3rd option for a team. That's when he plays best, not when he is given more responsibility. People complain about Tmac in the clutch, but Odom takes unclutchness to a whole new level.

Aside from those issues, I'm not even sure that if you combine all their stats that they are that much better COMBINED than Mcgrady. Do they give us some depth? I guess, but merely a depth of just OK players. Plus you've basically handed the Lakers the next 5 or so NBA titles. That's bad. Wow I analyzed the crap out of that. Ok well still the trade is not good for us on any level, but I don't mind the idea of Mcgrady (Tier 1 player) for like 3 Tier 2 players. Right idea, bad details.

Only if David Stern gives us the Memphis guarantee that if we do this deal to prop up the NBA's big market glamour franchise, our ping-pong balls will pop up in the top 3 in each of the next three lotteries.
