LOL! Wow, if Chris Martin actually did copy the melody of that song, then he did the world a favor....

If you want to nitpick music will eventually sound like something from a while back, doesn't mean they copied it.

You're right. Just like it is "gay" to use the word I have in quotation marks to describe something you don't like. And all this time I thought I was a pretty bad homophobe...

I really like this album because Coldplay didn't just rest on their laurels and create the kind of same old piano stuff that they've been doing in the past (mind you I do like that stuff but not all the time). I find that Coldplay pulls off the change of pace quite well and still manages to leave some of the old piano driven style in there (mostly towards the beginning of songs). I can't stop listening to this album, specifically Viva la Vida, Violet Hill, 42, and Death and All His Friends. Overall I give the album 4.5/5. Props to Coldplay for making a great album, and changing their style without selling out and being d-bags about it.

Apologies for the double post, but to comment on the whole Creaky Boards thing: really the songs are similar. I won't deny that but if you listen, that's all they are. If those guys really saw Chris Martin at their show, then they should be thankful he gained inspiration from them. Although if I'm not mistaken Viva la Vida was written like 8 months ago in South America so....I dunno. The way that the chorus goes aren't the same, and the verses don't sound all that similar. I'd say that really just the first part like, "I used to rule..." and then "I was alone..." or w/e the hell he says in the Creaky Boards song.

They seem to be imitating Radiohead. For that alone, I don't respect them much. I heard on a sports radio show that the lead singer said they wanted to be like Radiohead.

I think most bands would take sounding like Radiohead as a compliment.

I'm going to buy the album, but I'm deciding on where to buy it. I see it's around 9-10 dollars on Amazon and Wal-Mart.com.

How much did you guys pay for it at the store...Best Buy, Wal Mart, and etc?

I went and picked up the album today. While its not as good as parachutes, its still a very good album. People that say it sucks dont realize how hard it is to consistently put out good albums every few years and in my opinion Coldplay is one of the best bands out there at that. Cemeteries of London is prob my favorite song on the album.

IMO, the album is just okay, nothing great. Sure, it's better than a lot of the crap out there, but for Coldplay, I think it's their worst album so far.

    My ranking:

A Rush of Blood to the Head > Parachutes > X&Y > Viva La Vida...

Damn. I just get an e-mail today that says someone bought me a stubhub ticket to go to Coldplay here at American Airlines in Dallas on Nov. 19th. Here are my problems with this scenario:

1.) It's a freaking Wednesday and I have to work...meaning I have to find a way to leave work early and commute over to Dallas from the Ft Worth side. No problem...except there is about 3 1/2 - 4 total hours of driving involved that evening.

    2.) I freaking hate Coldplay.

3.) I really freaking hate Coldplay.

4.) I really, really hate freaking Coldplay. lol

    1.) above wouldn't be so bad...except for 2.) - 4.) . Damn!

I tried to hate Coldplay because it wasn't cool to like them, but they really do make some good music.

Check it out, the guy who used to host Singled Out is on G4 and he interviewed the Creaky Boards singer. He goes after him for basically for making unfounded accusations like that Chris Martin was at their show to get publicity for his group.
