From what I've see of both teams thus far, I can't see any way that Sweden has a chance. They've played just good enough to get there where as Holland has dominated for 270 minutes.
Not if Holland keeps playing as well as they have.......they are playing some magnificent Futbol....the best I have seen in years. DD
It depends on tonight of they will be our opponend, You never know what Hiddink will do with Russia. That being said, i expect the swedish to be our opponents, but I have no doubt we are the better team, But you never know in soccer.
If we keep on playing like we have NO team can beat us. However as a Dutch soccer fan, I have seen that before. I cannot count the times the Dutch were the best team in the tournament, just to come short (mostly with penalties. But I have faith. This is our Year.
Admittadly I have not watched the Dutch play as much as you, but for me they were always the technical team, the non creative wear you down and attack in a technical manner. This is completely different.....for me....and it is awesome to see. DD
It looks like they turned back the clock and are playing total football like the Orange Machine that everyone fell in love with in the 70’s. The Dutch should take this tourney. I still don’t believe in the Spanish. They may be the most talented team of all them, but something about them still rubs me as soft. Their defense is soft and I think they are mentally soft. But they can sting you at anytime. I would love to see a Espana Vs Holland final
Damn that 2nd string Dutch team trashed a 1st string team. I only saw the first half so I missed all the goals in the second half, but from what I could see in the first half, that Dutch team is pretty well organized in the front. I know Van Nistelrooy would've finished that flick in close to the end of the first half. Or in this case Bronckhorst since it was a midfielder. In other news.. I thought the 2 game ban on Turkey's Volkan was way too harsh. that [butt-] Holler was a total jerk and should've been the one fined for being such a sore loser. I hope that loss really stung him hard. However I hope Rustu get's a chance, he was my fav keeper from 2 world cups ago. Such a badass. That's the only positive that I can find from this since we all know Volkan sucks and couldn't catch a ball to save his life.
You do realize this is impossible, right? If they win in the quarter finals they'll be playing each other in the semis.
Man, Russia will give the great Holland team a fight. I am hyped. Even the first match against Spain, it could have been easily 2-3 instead of 1-4. I thought Russia did pretty well. My final 4 is Holland, Italy, Turkey and Portugal. Yes, I am counting out Spain. They are going to lose to Italy in the PK shootout. I am not convinced. My final 2 is Portugal and Italy. And Portugal is going to win it all.
I'm happy with Russia, i think we will beat them without any problems. Their defense is not that good. and they will not get a change to play as offensive against us as they did against Greece and Sweden. They will be forced to play defense. A tragedy did occur in the Dutch group. Boulahrouz was suppossed to become a father, but his baby was born to early and did not survive. He left the team for now to be with his wife. I'm not sure if he will play again. I really feel sorry for him
That's very sad. Anyway, I am going out on a limb here and will say that I think Russia will shock the world and will beat Holland.
Would be a huge upset. I picked Russia as a darkhorse not really know just how young they were. They always seem to be an underestimated team. That said, Holland is simply playing too well right now to pick against them. I'm pulling for a Holland/Portugal final. That would be epic.
such an interesting game today. germany not playing well and portugal playing great, hmmm-> the problem is history-> would anyone be surprised if germany won today? holland should beat russia as long as they play as they have thus far. turkey has been exciting but i think their luck has run out. croatia is the darkhorse. italy v. spain. wow. either team could lose this game or win it all. i'll say portugal wins it all or... italy
Well.. I'll admit he's the best player in the world right now he's extremely effective and has a very accurate shot no matter where he shoots from. Can't really pinpoint the reason I guess cause he tries to be really flashy but when he's actually effective it's hardly ever due to his "flashy" crossovers and moreso due to his pace and shot. He's a real gifted goal scorer I just don't have fun watching him play really.. sometimes I wish someone would just tackle his feet and not the ball when he's playing with it on the side I'd hate to defend him lol
