It was easy to guess about a year or more ago that the Rox would not take on salaries that would go past the 2009-10 season, given the free agents available then (LJ, DWade, Carmelo).

But I would hope that Les and Morey have re-thought all that. Why take two more seasons of this crap? Yao is always hurt. TMac, when he's healthy, often acts like he'd rather be home with the kids.

If we can improve now, let's do it, whether or not that involves trading TMac.

I am not crazy about moving McGrady, but getting back Billups and Prince would be intriguing. I like how Prince gives the Rockets some options in being able to package Battier, or Prince with an expiring contract for another scorer. I would still like to keep Shane because he is such a good three point shooter, which is ideal in a Yao Ming offense. If I were dreamcasting, I would do this move and then flip Battier and/or Prince along with some expiring contracts for somebody like Jason Richardson. Then we would have a lineup of Billups/Richardson/ Battier or Prince/ Scola and Yao with a nice bench of Alston, Landry, Brooks, Novak, Hayes, Mutumbo and whatever player we draft. We could do some damage with that group.

Follow the Boston example, get as many good players as you can. If Tmac was a couple of years younger, I wouldn't even entertain the idea. But right now, you have to take at it if it is on the table. Billups is possibly on the downside of his career and Prince is somewhat limited offensive at times, but this is a two for one deal for us that solves our pressing need for a guard.

I would make this trade, and then move Battier+Bjax for another borderline star.

I think we need to focus on getting a third star, not giving away one of them.

This is the reverse of what we want to do unless we are going the rebuilding route.

    exactly...

but first of all, im confused about why anyone thinks there is any validity to this whatsoever. the writer of the article obviously spends too much time on bball message boards because that is exactly where this idea came from. this trade makes no sense for the pistons at all. why would they trade a PG and SF for a shooting guard when they already have rip hamilton ?? that doesnt make any sense at all.

furthermore, people on here would do this deal, when you saw how they performed in this years playoffs ???? billups, prince, and yao is not good trio IMO. we would be much better off adding a 3rd star to the yao-mac duo....IMO

we are right there guys....the top teams in the west the passed few years (SA,DAL,PHX) are on the decline, i think we are a top 3 team in the west right now when healthy, as is, if we add another good player i think we will be right up there with LA and have a shot to get to the finals.

You do realize that Lebron's career is going along teh same path as mcgrady's don't you?

He's already hinted of chronic back problems at times.

This won't happen without involving their best player Rip Hamilton.

Cavs medical staff believe that LeBron's back issues are due to the fact that LeBron is still growing. It's the same sort of pain consistent with people who have growth spurts (I think)

This was mentioned on a broadcast (ESPN?) sometime during the season. I'm too lazy to google it.

Of course, the medical staff might be wrong, but just throwing this out there.

I would not like to see TMAC go anywhere, he is a guy that sells tix, and personally i would never pay to go watch yao, billups, rip, prince or anyone else that's not as talented individually as tracy mcgrady. Yes i see how a combination of players from the pistons could help out our roster but unless we are getting carmelo anthony, lebron james, D wade or someone of that caliber i would never move mcgrady. The man can do everything and to me is just as good as kobe bryant with a little less drive to be great. Keep tmac and yao regardless and move anyone else but not our core. The only way i'd package a deal with detroid would be for stuckey, rip and prince in other words three for one and none of that two for one stuff. Still i think the rockets should do what it takes to get a superstar caliber point guard thru trades or free agency. Think about Baron Davis, Gilbert Arenas, Kirk Hinrich, Jason Terry.

to me Yao went down... because he had to do too much of the work in the beggining of the season...

Tmac basically had no help when the last game of the series was on the line...

the rest of the team was overderachievers during the regular season.... and underachievers when it really counted...

the only way we are going to uprgrade... if someone demands to be traded here... or a big name free agent takes a pay cut to come play with us....

or to trade one of our big two...

which is fast becoming our only option

I for one am sick of betting against the Rox every year...when playoff time comes around...

That's interesting. Is it common to believe Rip is Detroit's best player?

Yeah, that's my only concern about the trade, that acquiring Prince makes Battier kind of irrelevant... but it's a small price to pay for washing our hands of McGrady!

PULL THE TRIGGER! This is the best offer we will get.

IMO he is their best player because he's their most consistent scorer.

Oh, yeah. Tayshaun Prince. That'll solve our constant whining about lack of offensive firepower. He and Billups can replace Battier and Alston as the local scapegoats.

Don't you know... we have the wacko in Waco to take care of any back problems LeBron might have.

T-Mac's value is not that high. I do like those players. Billups and Prince sound good.

But that means we would have to get rid of Shane which sucks.

Well its not a bad deal. I guess I would do it.

mac is my fav player next to kg but sadly i would do the trade in a heartbeat only if we had a deal to sign cory maggette also so that our lineup consisted of billups, maggette, prince, scola and yao...sick
