Yes, let's download new software the first day it's available even though it will be buggy and need time to get the kinks worked out just so that we can be part of a world record.
"That's what SHE said? " You seem to be confused, sir. This is MOZILLA FIREFOX DOWNLOAD day, not Internet sExplorer download day.
Yes, you will also tell them about how Firefox 3 let you down and your computer got infected with a keylogger that caused you to have your credit ruined and they'll be like "grandpa, is that why you couldn't send dady to college?"
Someone's retracting, eh? Download, install, then tell us what happened... what, you want us to do everything for you?
They've been releasing release candidates (the last one was last week) and I've been using them up until today and they've worked fine for me. I have no reason to believe that today's final release is dramatically different. There are definitely going to be add-on compatibility issues, although one main reason is that Mozilla keeps track of verified add-ons, so sometimes an add-on really is compatible but Firefox won't recognize it as such. In these cases you can Google some ways to get around it. I'll say in my case I use around 15 of them, and I probably have 2 that don't work (I didn't bother with the work arounds either).
(1) you can install the new Firefox side-by-side with the old, if you wish. And if it's too buggy, then you just remove it. (2) Firefox 3 has been available for download for quite some time in beta testing. It's not as if it hasn't gone through any testing. (3) A buggy Firefox is better than IE any day. (4) As with other Firefox versions, as bugs are found, updates are released, and Firefox can update itself accordingly.
I do like the new buttons. I will have to search the add-ons tonight because right now everything on their site is taking a long time to load.
