Perhaps I did not watch MSNBC as religiously as a few others here, but I sort of disagree with the Batman take on Rachel Maddow. I like her. She's smart and makes sense, but it seemed pretty obvious to me that she was calling Clinton out on her craziness/stubbornness/inability to understand math. Now Olbermann obviously took Clinton to task and seemed to take it personally every time she made a poor decision or comment. Maddow was no where close to Oblermann in that sense (who on tv was?). Russert was the best. While others were bashing or partially condescending or making fun of Hillary (who I figured just wanted to play it out as long as possible because she really didn't want to quit and wanted a stamp on history and hoped for a miracle comeback), Russert was just there being amazed....he was genuinely amazed and fascinated with what Hillary was doing. He knows the facts and numbers just like everyone else, but he wasn't attacking...he was sincerely curious at what Hillary was thinking and planning and we never got a hint of condescending attitude.
Walter Cronkite. Seriously, NBC should pick an old fart for the next several years. That will give them time to groom a more long term replacement, if need be.
this will never happen, but after his interview on this mornings Today Show . . . blew me away. Luke Russert. he was beyond amazing, given what he's gone through in the past few days. Give him 5 years, and he would be excellent.
Howabout someone from NPR or PBS? Generally the NPR reporters and hosts have done a good job of sounding fair and as a group tend not to engage in the type of self-agrandizement or histrionics of other pundits. Ray Suarez did a good job as host of Talk of Nation for many years and has done well as a commentator on McNeil Lehr. Maura Lyson has done a fanstastic job as the Supreme Court reporter for NPR and has shown a vast amount of knowledge regarding the workings of the USSC and Capital Hill.
Thanks! I really enjoyed that. Tim was a great father. No question about it... he sure raised a heck of a son. Trim Bush.
Being the moderator of Meet the Press is not like being the host of another news show. It's about asking questions, which is why David Gregory would make sense. He was horrible as an MSNBC morning host, trying to fill the Imus slot, and his new show is pretty awful, as well. But he was good as a White House correspondent. I like Chris Matthews, but his excitement for politics, even tawdry issues, can be a bit much. I'm not sure people take him seriously enough... I doubt Keith Olbermann is being considered. I think Olbermann even admits that he's not hosting his show from the perspective of the usual journalist. Plus, his emulating of Murrow is off-putting. I think he's even started interviewing guests like Murrow did. Andrea Mitchell lacks gravitas. So do Chuck Todd and David Shuster, although Shuster is good at asking tough questions. Chuck Todd is an analyst. Rachel Maddow is more of an analyst than anything else. Can you see her sitting across from McCain or Reid, asking them heavy questions and refusing to let them filibuster or change the subject? Brokaw or Koppel would be like Pope Benedict XVI. Filling in for a few years, while a younger, suitable replacement is found. Meh... Gwen Ifill or David Gregory...
IMO Ted Koppel is the best choice Matthews is fun to watch Gregory is just plain boring. My favorite one would really be Keith, but he is probably way to partisan, but he would be fun to watch also.
This is already posted in Hangout by oomp. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=150119 Figured the thread should get the bump. Brokaw gets the MTP chair until the election. May not be long term... we'll see. It's a good choice. Brokaw is aces! Impeach Bush.
