Who's your pick guys? Given that in all likelihood, Boston's gonna win it this year, this'll be a tough one. Do you give it to Pierce for coming back and inspiring the team through injury? Or do you give it Allen, who's been the most consistent and arguably the best performer out of the big 3? Or should it be KG, who's their lynchpin on defense, which ultimately, is the Celtics' calling card? Though it's a long shot, I don't think it's out of the question to see an unprecedented triple Finals MVP to be honest. All 3 of them have been absolutely big reasons why the Celtics' turnaround, and none of them have performed well enough over the others to take the award all for himself. It just makes sense to give the award to all three of the C's Big 3. Don't you think?
rofl its so stupid, they're all playing mediocre i don't even feel like saying. Finals MVPs aren't supposed to be like that
Precisely why it's gonna be a lot more interesting this year. It's been a team effort on the Celtics' defense and just enough big plays by the Big 3 down the stretch that they're up 3-1.
If someone has a huge game in the clincher they'll probably get it, but otherwise I think Pierce is a lock right now. He's been as good as the others offensively in the wins and he's gotten some publicity for his defensive work on Kobe.
Kendrick Perkins. He doesn't go out with the shoulder injury, and LA wins the series. He forced Doc Rivers to go small & lively.
Why? Kevin has had his ups and downs, so has had Pierce. But right now Pierce is the MVP of the finals, because he lead Celtics to Game 1, 2 and 4 victories. He has also played solid defense on Kobe which is key in that series. btw, I think media loves Pierce more than KG
Depends on the next game or two. Ray and Paul are pretty close right now Edge to Ray for taking it to the basket again and again in Game 4
Pierce, KG, Allen..... This kind of debate really makes me curious as to how good we would be with a third superstar. While all three of these players have played well, they've always been terrible at times. That's beauty of this though -- whenever one guy has an off night the other guy steps up. Look at how up-and-down Pierce has been and look at last game how Ray Allen simply took over the game. When one guy is off the other guys are on. ...and i'm not talking about the Kobe's of the world, but guys like Redd and others who are legit 20+ PPG scorers. Would be a nice luxury to have considering how inconsistent T-Mac is. T-Mac is exactly the kind of player you could forget about in that "three star" mold that can easily take over a game if you don't respect him. Sorry, didn't mean to derail this thread. To answer the question it probably has to be Pierce if the C's do go on to win.
This should have been a poll, but I would give it to Ray...but Pierce could make a case if he has a good game in the closing game. But, once again, they still got one more game. I know everybody says "nobody in the history of the finals has come back from 3-1" blah blah, but that's just history...its not a golden rule or anything. There's always a first for everything.
Allen has really outplayed Pierce on both ends. Basically the shots pierce gets are open, and the shots allen has to get up are extremely difficult and draws so much more defensive attention. If Pierce gets it, we know its because he played through that "Injury" which he seemed to return from 3 min later and leaped out of the building. Give it to Allen.
Game to the Lakers tonight. I still back the C's to win it, but it's probably going to Pierce after tonight's 38-point explosion. I don't think KG will get it though. He choked at the line tonight. The media remembers stuff like that. Still, it'd be nice to see Ray Allen get his honours too. He's been a nice guy and player for so long in the league.
kg has shot way too poorly for too much of this series to give it to him and not only is ray allen not finals mvp material, but he sucked so hardcore in the middle rounds i can't suddenly reward him for playing like he's supposed to. so it has to go to pierce, who has been their best player this series.
Precisely why it's called the Finals MVP. How many times have we seen guys who do jack for the first few rounds, then explode in the Finals and get the MVP trophy. And in that sense, Ray Allen has somewhat done that. It's one of the stupid things in the NBA, when it would make more sense to have an overall MVP from the team that has won who has also produced consistently through the playoffs. But that's another discussion altogether.
The Refs...I've texted that in for every game when it asks the fans to decide the player of the game for each game. I always get a text back telling me to check my spelling.
You can't pick an MVP until the series is over. If the Celtics somehow hang on to win then it will be Pierce. If the Lakers win it, of course it will be Kobe.
