David Lee is a much better athlete than you give him credit for. He may do Scola type things (hustle) but he is far more athletic. He's just as athletic as Landry but taller and better than either of them on the boards.

He's thinking of that double-double range like guys like Dalembert and Kaman have gotten recently. Landry didn't even come close to those numbers I believe he was in the 9 and 5 range.

he should have been locked up with the same kinda 2 years with a team option on a 3rd deal that novak got as a rookie. huge mistake that was. even 3-4m is too much.

Really? 3 to 4 million is too much for carl landry? for a young guy with such incredible efficiency, I would gladly pay that much. We paid that much for Moochie.

the contract was probably intentionally made a 1 year deal so that he could prove himself because Landry was upset at the amount of money he was getting paid. Remember, both parties have to agree on a contract.

I thought the max Rox and other teams could offer was the full MLE, according to the Gilbert Areanas (?) Rule and his restricted free agent status...

David Lee can't shoot. Can't create and this is exactly why D'Antoni wants to trade him. All Lee does is hustle. There are enough Mark Madsons in the NBA.

Before somebody else jumps in, I want to give you some support

He measured 6'7.75" without shoes, that's the same as Landry. His shoes had an extra 3/4" thicker heel though.

You mean his arms are longer which gives him a 4" advantage Landry's standing reach. Standing reach is more important than height. They are both the same height, but those 4 inches of standing reach make a big difference.

even then, I don't think the second year Landry will qualify for such pay for a year.

holy cow... 10 million... maybe im still in the past and havent adjusted for inflation...

but seems to me if we can put up 10 million a year... for 1 player we can get a better player...

Landry a rookie is already a good player but for that amount... he should have been dominating or putting up big numbers for us... virtually every game...

bringing up the bad contract days isn't exactly helping. he shouldn't be in a position to get 3-4m for the next 3 years after a good 1/4 season. his knee got bumped and he was never the same. at least if he was on a proper rookie 2nd rounder contract we could have seen how his knee held up after 2-3 years of nba play. but no we have to take a shot in the dark and hope his 1/4 season will translate to a full season and his knee will hold up.

No team will offer him anything more than half the MLE because of his knee. I would not even match a full MLE. Dude was wack after his Knee problems and you know that stuff will not go away. Guys bump knees all the time in the nba
