I think its pretty different in this sport because of the ice. If Nascar-like blocking was allowed, whomever was in the lead at the start would win every race -- not very sporting and certainly not the fastest skater. If they didn't have this rule, it might as well be 10 feet to the finish line. I was also unaware of this rule, and could not figure out why so many skaters were just letting Ohno pass them. IMHO, the Korean clearly tried to block Ohno.
Surf, I almost always enjoy your posts, and find you to be one of the better posters on this board. With that said...Adding a doesnt clear yourself of offending someone. I am part Korean, and my very first response to your line was one of offense also. Im not one to linger on it but what astounds me is that there are people who like to claim "Whoa quick to be offended of such a little thing" are typically the ones who didnt have to put up with lifelong racial abuse, or how difficult it can be.
What is the deal with the international community being offended so easily? Face it, the Americans are so superior to everyone else in the world...and Christianity is the bestest religion in the world too....
Chill out everyone! Jeez. I'm Korean, mostly. Did I find Surfguy's post offensive? No. I read it and took it as it was: sarcasm. Stop being so uptight because someone mentions a particular race, religion, etc.
Well, I'm not a racist, I explained my comments, and if that still doesn't clear it up for you....then nothing will. Not only that...but I resent incorrectly being labelled a racist. If that's how you want to interpret it, then that's your choice. I know what I meant and I certainly 100% didn't say anything negative or racist against Koreans. Please feel free to put me on your ignore list if that's how you feel.
That in itself is a generalization. Has there been a stat put out recently that backs that statement. In this thread alone we find other people whose background could have led them to be offended but werent?????
Firstly Surfguy, never was I saying that you were a racist. Wasnt implied, nor assumed. What I did say is that it doesn't matter if YOU think your comments should or should not offend the person it offended. Its that it DID. Plain simple, to the point. Thanks JayZ...you just proved my point. Probably without even realing it I bet.
