Yeah, I agree with you on Duncan, and certainly this bit about Jordan. I mean, humble? Seriously? And here I thought people were finally about done making up good things to say about Jordan, and making excuses for his shortcomings. His legend grows even today. To me, if I simply re-ordered this list, without taking anyone on or off, it would go something like this: 1. Wilt 2(t). Kareem 2(t). Russell 2(t). Olajuwon 2(t). Robertson 2(t). Magic 2(t). Bird 8. Jordan 9. Shaq 10 Duncan I know, wimpy on the 2(t). But I've considered those guys to be the 7 best players of all-time for awhile now. It seems asinine to try to rank them... I can never decide for sure. So I don't try.
That's a pretty good list. I know few posters probably don't like Wilt being #2, but the guy was fantastic center and probably better than most other great centers. He was dominate, but unlike Shaq, he was great defensive players. MJ, I would say probably has a great claim to number 1, I would even see why he is ahead of alot of the others. When two players are equal matched in talent, championships do matter. And matters even more, when they play against one another or have the same competition. A few years ago, I would've said Duncan is a bit high. And it should be Baylor, West, Lucas, and even Robinson ahead of him. But he does have the titles and MVPs...
You forgot to include that Hakeem is the all-time NBA blocked shots leader and should have listed his block average with his other statistics...he is a center after all.
Hasn't Kobe been in the league longer than Duncan? Then why did the writer omit Kobe because of how long he's played in the league?
I don't know about that Kobe or LeBron comment. Neither of them belongs on this list. I have no doubt that LeBron will, when it's all said and done. Kobe? He may bump Duncan off.
dominating the game as a guard is about 20x harder then as C/F so folks like JWest/Magic/Jordan/Kobe are truly the most skilled ball players ever besides Akeem, i dont have alot of respect for walking trees who live in the point then turn around and shoot a 5foot hook
Great list, but I would have Hakeem ahead of Shaq...less championships, but did more on every level of the game...Shaq couldn't win it alone and that's a fact...
Let me put this in reverse for you. How many good to great shooting guards over the years have averaged over 20 to 25 ppg? Countless How many centers have averaged 20 ppg and 10 rebs and changed the way the other teams defense plays? You'll see it is under 20.
It would be odd, at least for me, for anyone to have a 5 time MVP out of their top 3, but out of their top 5?
and some peeps on this board had the nerve to say i was crazy for saying dream was top 5-10 of all time.
Pretty good list. Obviously Hakeem should be ahead of Shaq. Also I don't think Duncan belongs on there.
Wait, really? Even if you are one of those people that don't believe Jordan is the best, and vehemently bring up counter-arguments for your viewpoint, you have got to be kidding me putting him as EIGHTH!!!! how has anyone else not replied to this...
I would change Dr. J with Magic or Bird Wilt is better than Jordan, and Hakeem is way too up in that list.
