Not to derail the thread, but, you are back droxford, haven't seen you post in a while, thats awesome.
Okay. I'll do the math.... $7000 = price of hydrogen kit for your car, including hydrogen generator and tanks and fuel system to convert your car. $65 = ballpark cost of filling up a midside car at the pump today. $7000 / $65 = ~ 128 fill-ups conclusion: Assuming that gas prices remain the same as they are today, the hydrogen kit would pay for itself in the equivalent time of 128 fill-ups (which is probably less than three years). If gas prices increase, the system would pay for itself faster. If gas prices decrease, the system will take longer to pay for itself.
20 BP Solar 3160 150W panels on your roof. Check 7 KG's of hydrogen produced per month (nominal). Check Current cost of 20 panels= $14,000 Not even close....
Hmm. Assuming your car uses 1 gallon per day, this is equivalent to a kg of hydrogen by energy content. 1 kg= 50,000 kwh/day requires a 12,000w peak array. 12,000w/ 150w panel = 80 panels 80*$700= $56,000 Then you can add your gas collectors, storage tanks, tank heaters, installation etc.
how about we screw hydrogen and just plug in our cars at night. plus fuel cell cars are real snoozes when it comes to performance.
