i think he meant nerdy as in being awkward and not sociably acceptable, which is a bit of a problem with the spelling bee type kids. I don't think you have to be a 'nerd' to be smart, the most intelligent people i've ever encountered were fairly outgoing. I don't encourage kids competing so hard in a fairly useless subject anyways. Whatever happened to science fairs? Why can't we have that be our kids' national intelligence competition? America's falling behind because of other reasons though... no child left behind my ass
Just saw him at Katz on Montrose, he was dressed sharp as usual. I was leaving and then this sky scraper walks through the door. I said hello and he said hello as well, seemed in a bit of a rush. ( I know.. no pics blah blah not a real story, but it happened). Glad he is a part of our team and the Houston community. Very great individual.
i didnt see Deke on it the show was all thrown off time wise in LA because they had a longer post game finals show. When i turned back to ABC they had the kid on but he was going against Jimmy. Guillermo as one of the judges was awesome though "i like to say vapid"
