This thread for all those who like or dabble in or want to try Web Design... the job is for experienced developers...

Job Opportunity for Web Designers / Web Developers  :
The place where I work is looking for someone who is a good "coder" or a good "designer" with works under their belt to complete a single project (mainly designing flash-like with JavaScript and CSS).

Why not ME, you ask? I can explain why if you're seriously interested in this project. It won't be a full-time position, but if you're that good, we might keep you for other things... or maybe full time? I can provide you a link to where the description of the project/job is (I can't post it here) via my personal email, and then you can decide if you want to respond.

    Tools  :
http://browsershots.org/ - Test your web design in different browsers, versions, platforms, etc.
If you've designed for a specific browser all your life, you should change to design for ALL browsers. If you know how to design your web application or site for all browsers, this comes in handy to test the design instead of having to install every version of every browser.
http://marketcircle.com/iphoney/ - iPhone simulator for developers... it mimics ... well, the iPhone Safari browser. MAC only :( .
http://chrispederick.com/work/web-developer/help/ - Web-Developer toolbar add-on for FireFox, many features including: view css information, reset http authentication, view rendered vs. original code, form field information, etc. I use it almost EVERYDAY.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1944 - Lynx View add on for FireFox allows you to see TEXT-ONLY version of current page; great for ADA compliance.
http://www.apple.com/itunes/linkmaker/ - iTunes Link Maker allows you to create HTML code to include on your web page to link deeply into the iTunes Music store

Share Web Developer tools or job opportunities for all of us IT, Web, designer, developer, Internet geek peeps to use!

This could be a useful thread for me down the road. I recently enrolled in online classes at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh for Web Design and they start July 14th. I can't wait to get started.

I recommend every web developer learn to develop sharepoint. It's pretty big right now, and people are getting paid a lot for doing it.

I think the most important tool any developer should have is CodeRush or Resharper. I don't think I can even code without resharper, lol.

BUMP for all those web designer peeps who think they might be interested.

They wouldn't be working with me, finals... maybe through my boss, but not with me.

    Job is still available.

WANTED: middle aged black man with sass. Big butt, bigger heart.

I'm going to cut right to the chase here. Do you like magic? Because I'm a genie in a bottle, and I'm going to grant you three wishes. Work with Swoly, to have a great job, and to be his best friend.

I agree with LegendZ. Many companies are using Sharepoint.

Our web services group deals with Sharepoint so everyone of us develop applications that is linked to SP or embedded in SP.

Right now, I am learning web parts and man, it is sure hard!!

Sharepoint is a great thing but it can be a pain in butt!!

    Good tools, Swoly-D. :)

It's my own thread, and I thought I'd stay serious but... oh, what the heck... I can't miss these chances:
Court reporter: [reading] "Mr. Schneider. And you were directly under her the entire time? Mr. Scott. That's what she said."
Michael Scott: "Well. Delivery's all wrong. She's butchering it."
    "Thaaaaat's what she said. :) "
    Michael: "That's what she said."
    Jim: "That's what who said?"
Michael: "I never know, I just say it. ... I say stuff like that to lighten the tension, when things sort of get hard."
    Jim: "That's what she said."
    Michael: "Nice!"

Anyway, no takers for the contract/job, eh? :(
