I don't like putting the future of our team in a 6ft (with the fro') pg, but what do I know...

i dont see how you can compare tyronn lue, a vet whos not gonna get any better, to a rookie with alot of upside and room to improve

poprocks, you are just asking to be abused. I understand that you are a Rox fan, and fans tend to overvalue their team's players, but saying AB can be as good as CP3 is like saying Luther Head can be as good as Kobe Bryant. Dude, quit being ridiculous.

Read again. I said max of what he might become. Not that I ever said he was. I said more likely at Tyronne Lue's level or slightly above. My projection is that he's slightly above Tyronne Lue and that's it.

Again, I believe Aaron Brooks will be more than Tyron Lue, Lue is a serviceable pg, but I believe Brooks could be higher caliber player, maybe not an all star, but definitely a good player.

If you look at all of the games where he played more than 15 minutes, this year...his scoring average is in double digits.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4304/gamelog;_ylt=AoGiGU.5BBP1zAXAV6_Bz.WkvLYF/ (Lue's second season)

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3266/gamelog;_ylt=AoLycDqTI69JQmJGnjvxIsOkvLYF?year=1999 (Lue's first)

Lue only had 4 games where he scored into double figures, no 20 point games anywhere to be seen, and his highest was 13. Most assist he ever had was 6 and it was only in one game.

Brooks, on the other hand, scored in double figures nine times and reached 7 assist as highest total, followed by one game with 6 assist.

I also believe if you watch both players on tape, you can see Aaron Brooks seems like he has more potential than Lue. Brooks seems to have alot of speed, ability to beat people off the dribble, drives aggressively to the basket, has nice shooting range, average passer, and decent defender -- those are things that could be built upon.

The problem is...how good can he be if you have to build a case for him being better than Tyrone Lue.

he would be good if he just improved his D look at A.I. im not saying brooks will ever come close to dropping 25+ a game but with his quickness he can be a god back up or starter if gets the hang of the offense and runs it well ill take 10 ponts from him if his a lockdoen defender out on the perimeter.

c'mon brooks is quicker than lue ever was and that's great to have if you just have to improve your game it's not like he has one really good skill and sucks at everything else he is ok at evrything he needs to be doing at a pointguard position just needs to up his game. 2 years from now people will see how smart morey was for not tradeing him in the artest deal (if it's true).

Lue given his minutes will score above 20 ppg. Depends on the system too. But I think Lue doesn't get the playing time because of his height. He is more than a servicable pt guard. I just happen to think Brooks is in the same mold.

Lue in his 8th season.....is that really fair to compare to a player who has played less than 50 games as rotation player and even less with quality minutes.

In NBA games where Brooks had just come off of playing full games in the D-League, or when he had real court time in previous NBA games he did very well, I think he just needs to be given regular playing time and he will come around to be a better than average point if not even better than that... even t-mac, or yao only playing a few min. once a week or less would probably look like they didn't belong in the NBA.

Same height, same dribble, nearly same shooting percentages, same efficiency. What's the difference? They were even drafted about the same spot.

Can you guys please stop comparing these guys? Same shooting %? What? Lue is a 3pt specialist with decent handles and catch and shoot skills. Brooks is a penetrator.

What about T.J. Ford? I think that's a better comparison in terms of potential. As good as Ford is, he definitely has major shortcomings to his game (like his size) and although I would peg him as guaranteed starter in the NBA, it's not like Ford is considered as someone who is ever going to be in a top 5 PG list.

Ford is 6'0", 165lbs officially, which is officially 4lbs heavier than Brooks and officially the same height (though Ford might be a little taller). They're both quick but not long (like Barbosa and Monta). Being quick and long allows major penetration AND finishing ability. Ford can get inside with his quickness but his finishing isn't physically supreme.

Ford shoots 49% for 2pters and Brooks shoots 49% for 2pters. Ford shoots 31% career for 3pters and Brooks shot 33% last year for 3pters.

I think Brooks is closer to the T.J. Ford potential curve. And T.J. Ford is still improving...hopefully. The main thing is I hope Brooks can learn to dish like Ford. Ford has that great sense to find shooters, and I don't think Brooks has that ability yet.

If anything Brooks will develop into a 3 pt specialist. Wasn't Brooks the NCAA 3 pt shooting champion. Oh wait..another similarity between Brooks and Lue

Is aaron brooks the Rockets future at pg?

Yes, as the roster stands right now he will be the best pg on the team by the all star break next season.

    BOOK IT!

What do you expect in the FUTURE?

    A championship?

    I know I am..

If thats the case then you cant be saying Brooks is our future if youre wanting a quick fix..

SUre Brooks might pan out great in 4-5 years but I highly doubt any fans here would want to waste the prime of TMac and Yao just to see little Brooks mature up into a solid starting PG.

Lets be realistic, Brooks will be great if the coaches can work on him but he isnt the answer next year no matter how much we obsess his "speed" and "Agility"
