Heard on 610 that according to the New York Post, the Knicks and Mavericks are working on a swap of Marcus Camby and Juwon Howard.

At this point, one can no longer be surprised by anything the Knicks do. The Mavericks on the other hand are gearing up for a trip to the Western Conference Finals.

First let me say that this rumor was started by Peter Vescey. Now that I've got that out of the way ...

The deal is said to also include Charlie Ward, and Shandon Anderson. Personally as a Mavs fan, I do not like the deal. Camby over the coarse of his career only averages 63 games a season. Plus I've heard that he may not be available for this years playoffs. Through in the fact that Howard is our only low post presence (other than Dirk) if Camby was to go down the the Mavs would really be in a hole.

The Dallas Morning News reported a possible trade that I liked a little more. Dallas is said to be trying to get involed in any deal that sends Van Excel out of Denver. The Mavs want to be the third team involved that would land them James Posey. It's not a big trade for the Mavs but it would definately help the Mavs out on the defensive end. They didn't say who the Mavs would be sending out though.

    Great deal for the Mavs.

Howard was just a cap eater, who is very soft. Camby, as skinny as he is, is still more physical than Howard, and finally give the Mavs a big man who isn't a complete stiff.

Camby might not score more points than Howard, but the Mavs will score more points with Camby, because of his shot blocking and rebounding skills that can trigger more fast break opportunities.

Camby can make a living off of Nash driving and dishing. He will be the best inside finisher the Mavs have.

Howard's contract doesn't end too far from now, so I think that is why NY will make this trade.

That's another reason I don't like it for the Mavs. It limits our chances of landing one of the big men in '03.

everyone is gearing up for the big men in 2003...obvoouisly some teams are going to save all this cap money and not have anyone to spend it on...i would take the trade if i were a Mavs fan.

Who are the big men available in 2003? I know Duncan... I assume Brand also.

Newest Mavs-related rumor now has LaFrenz, Van Exel, Abdul-Wahad, and Johnson going to BigD in exchange for Howard, Hardaway, Buck, and Harvey. Interesting... :)

I know there have been numerous proposals by Rockets fans on this board before involving KT/Moochie plus a pick for LaFrentz that one of the Nuggets posters continually dismisses. He cant possibly like this.

In response to the Camby to Dallas rumor Cuban said and I quote "We're not looking to add to our injured list." OUCH!
