Here's a thread for all you workout buffs. I don't follow a workout plan "per say", but I do exercise about 4-5 times a week for 30 mins or so. About 3 out of those 5 times, I'm fairly sore. Is there a way to reduce the soreness and speed up the healing time? I'm a little fuzzy on all of the protein shakes, whey protein, protein meals, blah blah blah. Whatever the solution, I was looking to keep it low on calories. I wouldn't mind a pre-workout supplement of some kind, but usually I'm not a big fan of supplements that require you to time your meals exactly so they can work. -Travis
are you stretching before workouts? if your soreness lasts a couple of days and this is with consistent workouts, i think you're overworking (i.e. doing more weights than needed) yourself. if it's just like an overnight deal-to-morning deal, i do stretches whenever possible on the sore spots.
Well, when I say workouts. I should have actually termed it just exercising. Like, 2-3 times a week, I'll do about 45 mins at a moderate pace on my cardio bike. The other 2 times, I'll shoot some baskets or play baseball for 30 mins to an hour. I don't stretch though before or after. I should?
if you are doing a routine thats fairly consistent, you shouldnt be getting that sore. But, stretch before and especially after. plenty of water and a decent diet couldnt hurt either
Being sore after a workout is a good sore. It means you did something. The only way to get rid of it is to work out consistantly and eventually you won't get all that sore anymore. I like being sore after a workout, feels good.
If you have that routine then just increase your activity, maybe weight training, deal with the new extra level of soreness, then return to your normal routine. You will never be sore again unless you take a prolonged hiatus from your routine.
Iso whey protein from GNC or Vitamin Shoppe is the way to go. It nourishes your muscles pretty quickly so you wont feel as sore.. The tub lasts about 1-2 month and its 30-45$ and it helps in muscle building
Just the opposite for me... When i find i'm not sore after a workout, i know it's time to change up the routine. So i guess if you don't want to be sore, be consistent and stick to the same routine, but then you'll plateau. sore is good.
