wow this guy is an idiot, how can you possibly say that gasol is overrated? an yao as a second option? first option easily he's virtually unstoppable down low. ray allen??? hes 30 something and still shoots lights out, minus his cold streak up until that last game. i don't think rashard lewis is overrated no one ever talks about him, maybe you could say he is paid too much but that doesnt make him over rated, just over paid, no one talks about o rashard is gonna destroy them tonight! i would agree that j kidd is somewhat over rated, but it's hard to make that argument, his tripple doubles are bs they come because his team boxes out everyone to ensure he gets the last few rebounds, but he is still a great pg and a good rebounding guard...so i take it back he isnt over rated, but dallas had too much faith that he would bring them what they needed to win
Of all things...Yao being overrated, what next? He had one bad series vs the Jazz and got injured this year. There is no evidence to support that Yao is overrated.
Everyone I was wrong....... Yao is overrated....................... by the Chinese National Team and Chinese Government.....they can finish near the bottom of the standings without him I think they all should come to realization that Yao won't be able to bring them a gold medal. So he might as save all of his energy for next season come back healthy and give us a championship as second banana, nonfactor player he is....
yao is not overrated. everyone says he's arguably the best offensive center in the game, which he is. he draws more double teams than any post player currently. his defense may not be the greatest, but at least he tries. you can't say the same for amare or chris bosh or even dwight howard, who got called out by stan van gundy earlier this year. but i do agree yao is at best a 2nd option. throughout his career, he just hasn't shown that mentality to want to take the team on his shoulders and just carry that team regardless of what's going on. when his shooters struggle, he should go to their faces and say "either gimme the ball, or find ways to gimme the f*** ball." he doesn't have that. everyone in the organization knows that. tmac may not be the best first option right now at this stage in his career, but when his teammates suck, he'll jack it up (ala game 6 this year). yao is a borderline superstar. if he had the mentality to obliterate his opponents, he would go to another level. but another reason why i think this guy stated this is b/c the team can play "better" when yao goes out. you can't really say that for any other star in the L. he cited our defense went up a few notches with yao out. so maybe that's his logic. but we're not a better team without yao as a whole. if we want to win big, we need yao.
