I'm worried about Francis

Watching a point guard like Gary Payton, you see a guy who never leaves the ground. He just kind of pivots back and fourth towards the basket until he finds a a layup. Even on his shot, he barely jumps. A point guard like that never gets hurt, and can sustain his level of play for his entire carreer.
Then, take Steve Francis. Half of his game, it seems, is him hurling his body high in the air into a crowd of very large men waiting to take him down. My observation is, a guy like that's bound to get hurt. My question is, what happens when he can't fly any more? He needs to develop some other aspects quick, or he might not be very affective for very long. I don't know...it's still up in the air whether or not he'll really be great in the long term.

Keep up on your shooting drills Steve.

Gary Payton was garbage when he first came into the league - he learned and developed. Jason Kidd threw himself all over the court and he had no shot to be found when he first entered. Stevie will learn to tone down, but he is already way ahead of the two best pg's in the game (when they were at his stage). He is a better 3 point shooter than he seems because he has used some poor judgement or has gotten the ball with 2 seconds left.

You have to remember that Steve only has 1 year of Div. 1A and less than 1 season in the NBA.

I agree he is very reckless with his body but he will learn the hard way.

You know, you are absolutely rite. I'm so amazed by his high wire act that i completly forget about how hard it would be for him to sustain this pace. Stevie, heed coach fromobile's words very very carefully.

    Valid concern!

    Remember Kevin Johnson.

But the other side of that argument are guy's like Brent price, etc. A guy who can't jump to NBA standards of even way below average.

But, also have you seen steve Francis calfs. They aren't thin such as Veron Maxwell's. He has decent size calves, which in turn make him less succeptible to those nasty ankle sprains.

Big calves = less ankle sprains? Care to elaborate, Dr. Vince? I've never heard that one.
