And yeah, I'm happy with Smith so far and glad he got an extension. Hopefully he can keep it all moving in the right direction

"you guys" refers to the people who i'm arguing with. i figured that was a given and didn't need explanation.

calling somebody out on homerism is always gonna be met with negativity, and i'm aware of that, but there's really no way to put it delicately. i calls em like i sees em. maybe the jacoby jones comment was a bit too smartassy, but dont take it personally. i'm not crossing any lines.

Smith has done a very good job so far IMO. The deal we gave to Ahman has been his only drawback.

he had a terrific preseason. but i'm guessing the nfl's other 31 GMs knew about him. well... 30 - i doubt matt millen did. oh, wait - yes he did: dude's a WR.

    uhm... nope.

which would make about as much sense as me arguing mario williams is one of the best young QBs in the league.

ignoring that, you'd deal the decript 25-year old devin hester for jones? or the over-the-hill 24-year old josh cribbs? so far, jones has been mediocre in all facets at best. it rates as an "INC" so far.

Smith is a very good GM, and not just by comparison to Casserly. He's done an incredible job weeding out the garbage from the previous administration. Guys that were in the rotation in '05 and '06 wouldn't even sniff the roster with the competition on this team. Freakin Corey Bradford was our #2 wide receiver, for example.

He's only had 2 drafts, but last years was superb and I'm liking the looks this year. He's spent a little money in free agency, but hasn't severly overpaid anyone like what Asante Samuel got this year. Ahman Green did get paid and hasn't produced, but we had to get a back in here, and at least Ahman still looks like he has something left based on when he did play last year.

Oh, and most importantly, we have a real quarterback now.
