Glad to see that espn and ABC is broadcasting a majority of the games. Plus most of the games will be played during noon/afternoonish in the states so no need to stay up late TV Schedule http://soccernet.espn.go.com/euro2008/fixtures?view=group&cc=5901&league=uefa.euro Group A -Czech Repulic -Turkey -Switzerland -Portugal Group B -Poland -Austria -Croatia -Germany Group C -Italy -Netherlands -Romania -France Group D -Spain -Russia -Greece -Sweden
Anybody but Italy. I'm going to be paying extra attention to the Austrian team to see if they play respectable or get booed out of the country.
Their chances just improved, since Cannavaro is going to miss the tournament with an ankle injury sustained in a collision with Luca Toni. Anyway, obviously Germany will win the title!
Allez les bleus! Haven't really followed football too closely lately. But I do think this is the tournament where Ribery will prove beyond a doubt that he is a world-class player, a "Zidane-lite" if not the New Zidane, capable of leading a major international side like France to victory. Also excited to see Nasri and Benzema get into gear. ...plus I hate the Italian national team...eliminating them from the Group of Death will be hella sweet.
I don't really feel compelled to root for any of those teams. I've always liked the Swedes and the French, so I wouldn't mind if either wins it all. There is only one team I strongly dislike out of that whole bunch: Germany. So I will be rooting against Germany throughout the tournament. The Germans can stick it where the sun don't shine...Arschlochs!
¡AUPA ESPAÑA! We have possibly the best team on paper in the tournament, but then again we always **** it up somehow.
The Germans have such an easy road to the finals. In their group they have no good team, and then they have to beat portugal and either czech republic or Turkey. Lets take a close look of the Dutch group. Italia: World champions, who destroyed the dutch in a friendly match France: world champion runner up. Romania: the team that finished above the dutch in the qualification, and head to head we had one draw and one loss. So it is looking good We have to beat either France or Italia, twice . But i have faith in our team, we can beat anybody, of course we can also loose to everybody.
A Germany vs Italy final will be as boring as Spurs vs Pistons NBA finals. [Edit] And I like dark horses, GO Czech Republic and Spain!
Since my international team isn't in Europe I've decided to root for Czech Republic... and Italy if Czech gets eliminated early. Portugal will probably end up winning it though.
Just root for the Dutch, we are a darkhorse we have a nice team. Historically the Dutch have been very important for soccer
Yeah i'm not to happy about that. He has some unique qualities of which he was the only one on the team that had them. However I do like his replacement, Boulahrouz. he is the toughest defensive player we have. like he showed two years ago against ronaldo <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UmJKoAmynso&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UmJKoAmynso&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
I've always rooted for the Dutch. I was a huge fan of Van Basten and Gullit back in the day and Ajax was my favorite team growing up. I was raised on "Total Soccer". I'm just not confident in the current team and I am no fan of Van Nistelrooy. I think they've lost a lot of what made them an important team. I will still root for them, though. I'd really like to see Spain win something finally. They always have some of the best talent in the world and usually fly through qualifications. They just crap out when it matters most. Maybe they can get that turned around this summer. In all honesty, I'd like to see anyone but Italy and Germany win the title. I'm leaning towards Portugal, Spain, or a surprise winner (Russia is my darkhorse).
GO ORANJE!!! group of death, young team, and bad coach doesn't make for a good tournament but you never know. If freaking Greece can win the whole thing, anything's possible. I am not sold on Romania and France so we'll see. Plain and simple I love soccer more than anything and just want to see quality games, soccer played beautifully like Argentina and Spain did in the world cup. Free flowing joyous soccer not the BS pack it in on defence and hope to win 1-0 like Italy and Greece play and sadly many other teams these days. I am picking Spain to win it all (they're due and have amazing talent). Portugal is another dangerous team. It's pretty wide open but just want to see great games!
I'm pulling for Spain, mostly because I have a man-crush on Torres. And as a Liverpool supporter, the news about Babel is disappointing. I was really looking forward to seeing what he could do in this competition. Now I just hope he gets plenty of rest this summer...
I'm always a fan of the Oranje and Ajax, and I was one of those kids growing up that idolized Van Basten but so far as a manager I can't stand him. I think Ajax made a huge mistake but I hope the dutch team can withstand MVB and go far, we'll see though. Spain have a good squad, by no means better than Italy but still good nonetheless. I can never support spain as long as Aragones is still in charge. The Germans have a strong squad and as was mentioned earlier they have the easiest route to get to the finals.
I'm one of those fans and I can tell you every single one of us is relaxing in the comfort that our underachieving tossers will not attempt to give us heart attacks this summer as they underachieve their way to another exit on penalties. I feel marvelous as we approach Euro 2008. England did not deserve to be there and no English fan will tell you otherwise. In hindsight it may just be what England- players, fans, FA, everyone needed.
