According to David Aldridge: Delk/Rogers to Celtics Joe Johnson/Milt Palacio/Randy Brown/2002 #1 pick to Suns GREAT trade for Suns-why in the world does Boston do this? I wish the Rockets had offered KT/KW/MN to Boston for that package. What does this mean for the Suns, and Joe Johnson though? Marbury, Hardaway, and Marion already man the 1-2-3 and none seem to be going anywhere. Maybe JJ will be moving on?
Good trade both ways. Johnson is expendable because the C's have a logjam at SG/SF. Bos obviously felt like they needed some scoring punch off the bench, there aren't too many better than Delk and Rogers off the bench.
i see it as pretty fair, especially since boston is trying to win their division. they get some quality veterans for the playoffs.
Obviously The Celts want to Move Paul Pierce around and play him at the 2 and 3. This is a type move that adds veteran leadership to a team over inexperience, I think The Celtics are going to make a serious Playoff run. C - Battie/Potapenko PF - Walker/Rogers SF - Eric Williams SG - Pierce/Delk/Forte PG - Anderson I can see how this trade benefits the Celtics and just turns the Suns into another Portland.
I think it's a good trade for phoenix, altough Delk is a very goor 6th man. Rogers also, but Phoenix needs some changes in their team, or else they will never make it to the play-offs. I hope the trade will continue.
Of course they lost to the Bulls, who, W-L wise seem to have made, VERY SURPRISINGLY, the best trade thus far. I doubt it will last.
I don't think Anfernee Hardaway played in that game that Johnson went off in. Do you expect similar production from J.J. when Penny plays? I for one hope so as I picked him up in my fantasy league.
This is a cap trade with window dressing to make it look better. The Celtics didn't do this deal because they wanted Delk and Rogers. They did it because they didn't want to get hit by the luxury tax. Sure, Delk can score now and then... and yes, Rogers can provide a half-way decent presence on the block... but Joe Johnson really looked good at times this year. If the Celtics didn't already have so many scorers (and Antoine plays more like a 3 on offense, than a 4, imo)... Johnson could be averaging 12-14 points a game right now. He's athletic and has good ball skills. If Boston really expected to win this year... I guess this would make more sense. But this isn't their year. Pierce is turning into a superstar... I think they'd have been better off letting everything come together without trading a talented rookie for two mediocre role players. If Boston wins the East... I might take that back. But they're a long, long shot to do that as of now.
