ORANGE COUNTy, Fla. -- A 13-year-old girl's sexual shenanigans have put a second man behind bars. Morris Williams, 22, told the judge he thought the girl was 18-years-old, but he found out Tuesday that ignorance is not a defense.
Morris Williams' mother wailed as he went off to jail. The judge asked for media not to show 13-year-old Alisha Dean's face in court, but her pictures are all over her MySpace page and they portray a sexy, 19-year-old divorced woman.
"She told me she had just turned 18," Williams said.
Williams said Dean picked him up on the street and after a few conversations they had sex. When he heard she was not 18, he went to her father.
"He was like 'well, she's 13,'" Williams said of a conversation with Dean's father.
Williams said he never did it again, but Dean has done it before with 24-year-old Darwin Mills. Mills was sentenced to five years in prison.
Dean's father wanted Williams to join Mills there.
"One of the reasons for the law is the fact that minors have poor judgment," said Jerry Dean, the girl's father.
Williams' father believes the jail sentence sends the wrong message to Alisha.
"I guess we just sit back and count how many after this," Henry Smith asked after his step-son was sentenced to jail.
Dean's family admits Alisha still stays out late and has yet to delete her misleading MySpace page.
Williams will serve six years probation with the first year in jail. The other five years he will have to wear an ankle monitor. His attorney says he will come back to court to ask again for a shorter sentence.

    ------------

I kind of feel sorry for the guy, but you shouldn't be doing it with girls over myspace anyway.

Asking girls for their IDs is going to have to become standard operating procedure.

True, but a 13 year old wouldn't even have an drivers license at that age. Maybe a Chuck E Cheese card.

That sucks. The guy should have at least got one b**** slap in before being sent to jail.

They say if there's grass in the field, play ball but I think if there's no ID in her pocket, then don't plug her socket.

Wow this is ridiculous. If this was a jury trail they should be in jail and if a judge ruled on this he should be in jail. At least punish that girl.

Punish the jury and judge for following the law? Wow.

I think the situation sucks but you can't tell a jury and a judge to follow the law and then punish them for doing so. Statutory Rape is a strict liability offense. There is no legal defense except that the girl is actually of age.

The father of the girl pisses me off. His skank daughter has sent 2 men to jail but he still lets her stay out late and recruit unsuspecting men on Myspace. Wake up dude, your daughter is a slut and she knows exactly what she's doing. That little kunt is going to send more men to jail, I guarantee it.

The law is ment to protect yougsters. Instead of the law doing that, it is empowering an idiot dad who can't control his daughter from going off on a power trip.

At least the guy should be able to sue the girl for monetary damages.

Just a few weeks ago on 60 minutes a guy was on a life sentence cause two attoreneys were trying to protect their client.

After watch enough Law and Order and reading about cases I have come to the conclusion that prosecuters are super scum and the US justice system in general is messed up.

I think the lesson dude will learn is. . .next time. . .don't fess up
simply take it to the grave with him . . ..
Doing the right thing. . . got him 5 yrs in prison . . .

that said. . . . It was the law require

    as for the girl
Wait until she tells the next guy . . . .while he doing the cuddling afterwards
'Give me 500$ or I'm calling the cops. . . and don't get smart cause i have already put 2 other dudes in jail . . .. "

    What a bull**** law.

Here in Ireland, there was a similar case not too long ago. The girl was 13 and the guy thought she was 17 (which is the age of consent here). And as all the people involved in the case admitted that she looks older, he was not prosecuted.

Well if you've watched Law and Order and read cases that are noteworthy enough to make the news we might as well get you a JD! I'll tell you what, when you're a victim, don't bother reporting the crime, wouldn't want those scummy DAs trying to get any justice for you...

P.S. Judges and DAs don't make the law - they just enforce them. If you have a problem with this law being strict liability (i.e. ignorance is not a defense) get in touch with the legislature - don't attack the system for upholding the law and giving him, *gasp* probation! Or I guess you can blame the grand jury for indicting him...but hey, there's enough blame to go around I suppose...

Good Ellen Paige movie, pre-Juno. Some pretty chilling scenes, 9 out of 10 doctors agree. Watch An American Crime for something similary horrifying, especially since it's actually true.

If you allow the "I didn't know" defense here, every single occurrence of statutory rape becomes a case of "he said, she said." You can't selectively allow a defense to a crime.

Also, if you really think watching L&O and "reading about cases" informs you of the way the criminal justice system works, that's just laughable. Furthermore, two attorneys protecting their client wouldn't be prosecutors so that adds nothing to your argument.

But in this case there was proof that he probably didn't know. He will go to jail and after that he will will be labeled as a sex offender will probally have trouble getting a job, and may actually become a criminal; and for what because some girl is a liar?
