For 21 years, Bad Company has epitomized a style that values song form and the band concept over the particular of individual solo careers. In the process, Bad Co built itself into one of rock's most durable and popular touring acts, providing the standard by which such disparate groups as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bon Jovi and the Black Crowes have publicly measured themselves. Since its inception in 1974, Bad Co has carried the banner for hard rock in its most intense, forceful identity. Anchored by two of the finest players of their generation, guitarist MICK RALPHS and drummer SIMON KIRKE (as well as The Voice known as PAUL RODGERS), the band built its reputation on the strength of an approach to songwriting that stressed the unity of the sound ahead of visual or instrumental flashiness. "Bad Company," says Ralphs, "is more important than any individual in it." The debut album and its smash hit single CAN'T GET ENOUGH rocketed to number one in the UK and followed suit around the world, earning BAD COMPANY universal accolades as Best New Group of 1974. The second album STRAIGHT SHOOTER remained in the Top Five for over a month and produced another Top 10 single, FEEL LIKE MAKIN LOVE. In 1976, the third Album RUN WITH THE PACK was certified Gold only two weeks after the release and remained on the charts for nine months." http://www.allrightnow.com/fws/badcompany.htm
Bad Company's Paul Rodgers made one of the great blues tribute albums of all time too. Muddy Water Blues: Tribute To Muddy Waters Here are the guest artist: : David Gilmour, Buddy Guy, Jeff Beck, Brian May, Steve Miller, Slash, Neal Schon, Richie Sambora, Trevor Rabin Here's the band: David Paich - piano, Hamnmond B-3 organ, Pino Palladino - bass, Paul Rodgers - vocals, nylon string guitar Gary Moore ,Paul Shaffer Ronnie Foster - Hammond B-3 organ.Brian Setzer, Alexandria Brown, Jean McClain - background vocals Billy Sherwood - percussion, Carmen Carter, Jason Bonham, Jimmie Wood - harmonica, Jimi Haun - guitar, Mark T. Williams - drums, Ian Hatton Blues songs don't get any better than Muddy, and white boy electric reinterpretation doesn't get much better than than these folks. Oddly though, the very best song on the CD is the original "Muddy Water's Blues" and it opens in an acoustic version and closes in an electric version....nice concept.

Journey released a new album this week with their youtube lead singer. They recorded 11 new tracks and also re-recorded their greatest hits album, hence a double disc. I downloaded it out of curiosity and i must admit its pretty good. It's called Revelations, check it out.

The Charlatans UK - You Cross My Path Just released, but only 10 tracks. I think they are giving it away on the internet. The deluxe edition has some live tracks and multi-media. Here's the review
Anyone familiar with the band called Muse, I caught one of their videos on the Music HD channel and it was everything a video used to be and still could be today, kind of an old west theme/cowboy gets the girl type of video but more like a movie. It was cool because until the guy started singing I wasn't really sure I was even watching a music video. I grabbed their discography and have listened to them a little over this past weekend and some of it is pretty good, though after the initial listen their faster stuff is what I find myself skipping over the slow stuff to get to. If anyone wants to check it out the video was for the song Knights of Cydonia, it has a real David Bowie/Ziggy Stardust type of feel to it. And I'm listening to Cold War Kids - Robbers and Cowards.
6 discs in the car on random: Lucinda Williams - Car Wheels on a Gravel Road Frank Zappa - Trance Fusion Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Strteet Frank Zappa - Apostrophe/Overnight Sensation Cat Stevens - Tea for the Tillerman Kind of makes for some bizarre juxtapositions.
I don't care how much this guy sounds like Steve Perry; it isn't "real" Journey without Steve Perry singing the lead vocals. Just like it isn't "real" Styx without Dennis DeYoung in the band, "real" Judas Priest without Rob Halford, the "real" Doors without Jim Morrison, "real" Chicago without Peter Cetera, etc. Unless you are AC/DC (and they only did it because they had to), I don't know of any bands that were able to change a noteworthy lead singer and still be as good as they were with their former lead singer.
A couple more: "Rock of Ages: The Definitive Collection" - Def Leppard "Takk..." - Sigur Ros "Sky Blue Sky" - Wilco "At War With the Mystics" - The Flaming Lips "The Information" - Beck
