Ya because you have to actually go to iraq to understand what is going on there

if only somebody could invent some kind of technology where people could see and communicate around the world in realtime without actually being there in person

hmmm the world would be such a better place

Why is a candidate for Commander-in-Chief so standoffish towards our own military commanders?

That just doesn't work, folks. And it won't play well in Ohio, PA, and Michigan, key states where Obama was weak and voters are looking for an alternative. A moderate like McCain may be just what they are looking for... not an elitist like Obama who refuses to speak with our own generals... yet is willing to speak with Ahmadinajad...

Awesome commercial! If what that soldier said is true, then Obama will not get my vote. I always wondered about Obama. It's not that he's half black, but he seems a bit cocky and portrays himself as a potential great president or the second coming of Kennedy.

If you love the troops, avoid Obama. Pulling troops out of Iraq right away is a bad idea. What's going to happen to the people there? More violence? More countries will laugh at Americans?

This will be like the Vietnam War. Oh no, we didn't lose the war, the South Vietnamese did. But wait, we controlled the war at the highest levels. And when time turns tough, we run. Who gives a damn about the people there! Good job.

yeah but the flip side is McCain might result in more deaths for nothing. I mean I understand the don't turn and run after death #'s tally up but when the value of winning has to be more than winning.

Yes, you actually have to go to Iraq to understand the situation there. How can you trust the media?

The media isn't the only way to get information about Iraq.

Of course Obama has already been to Iraq.

Not recently. You didn't hear the soldier said that? Since you said the media is the only way to get info, don't you think making more trips over there gives you a better feel for the situation.

Man I don't know how to upload pictures. Can someone please help me with this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_Adams_(photographer)

Look at that picture. He won the Pulitzer Prize for that?! Shame on him! He later apologized. This is what he said:

"The general killed the Viet Cong; I killed the general with my camera. Still photographs are the most powerful weapon in the world. People believe them; but photographs do lie, even without manipulation. They are only half-truths.
What the photograph didn't say was, 'What would you do if you were the general at that time and place on that hot day, and you caught the so-called bad guy after he blew away one, two or three American people?'"

Now this is only a photograph. So can you imagine all the mess that the media could make you believe?

You said it. He might. But Obama will cause more casualties for nothing if he withdraws the troops immediately. I don't know if McCain can back up what he said, but at least he sounds more confident than Obama. Does this country have no pride, that we just get into a fight and back out like that? We didn't back out of WW2. It was only Japan who attacked us, not Germany. But we still took on both monsters.

I edited my post. I meant to say the media isn't the only way. military officials including Petreaus have briefed congress. Going to Iraq and seeing a selective dog and pony show that the officials want to parade people around to isn't the best way to get information.

The REAL reason they want Obama to go to Iraq is so there be "accidental breach" in security and something unfortunate would happen. I think we know what the "unfortunate" incident would be.

Republicans and Hillary have been alluding to it recently.

Germany declared on war on the U.S. prior to our entry in the war. Both Japan and Germany invaded other nations.

Obama has never proposed an immediate withdraw. Please check his position again for a gradual withdraw while troops are kept nearby to intervene in Iraq should that be necessary.

This is an awfully weak argument. If the troops stay there will be more casualties 100% guaranteed.

    It went like this:

12/7 Pearl Harbor and Japanese Declaration of War against US
    12/8 US Declaration against Japan
    12/11 Germany declaration against US
    12/11 US declaration against Germany

So, Germany declared war on the US after Pearl Harbor, but their declaration came before the US made a formal declaration against anyone in the European Theater. I might add that there was fear in FDR's administration that Germany would not declare war on the us and it was the language of the German declaration, where they promised to sink the rest of our navy, that helped FDR move the public to accepting a primary focus on Europe.

    Who will Obama listen to?

One would hope he would listen to the 70% of Americans who want us out of Iraq.

Isn't that how democracy works.... and when did the military start deciding which wars to fight?
